Families shouldn't hesitate to visit the Mud Island River Park. The cruises and tours offered are as relaxing as they are exhilarating. The open air and majestic sites along downtown Memphis make for an appealing combination. Music fans should consider taking in a concert at the island's amphitheater. For those that happen to hate music, taking a swim or catching some rays on the beach is always an option. Rest assured, there's always some fun waiting to be had at Mud Island's Adventure Center.
While there's always time for fun and games, education and reverence shouldn't take a backseat. The National Civil Rights Museum opens a window to the past. It gives insight into a darker time and those that pierced the darkness with light. Numerous Civil Rights activists are honored and given spotlight in the fascinating exhibits. While there are those that would scoff at the reduced excitement offered by a museum of history, make no mistake, there's plenty here to fill you with awe. From tragedy to triumph!
This tribute to all things Elvis should be on any music fan's list of destinations. The king of Rock & Roll left behind a mansion full of history for his fans to take in. Stop in for souvenirs or photos- they're affordable and come in all varieties. This is your chance to not only learn more about Elvis, but also to show your appreciation for him.
Sports fans shouldn't feel left out of the Memphis festivities. The Volunteer state has many, many sports fans eagerly awaiting the next big event. Whether it's the Grizzlies or the Tigers playing, Memphians are always excitedly lining up to fill the seats. The spirit of competition can heat up to a fevered pitch, but most people know it's all in good fun. Again music fans are given a great opportunity as the FedEx Forum is often home to great concerts. Whether it's Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi, or Taylor Swift- the experience is always enjoyable!
While in Memphis, Tennessee be sure to visit the Memphis Zoo, Rock N Soul Museum, or the Children's Museum. All are fantastic places to spend time with your family, significant other, or friends!
