For the more modest players however, one of the best ways to gain experience is through planting crops. In general, the faster a crop can be harvested, the more experience points you will be able to get from planting it. There is however one surprising super crop that can be used to gain experience quickly without having to constantly harvest and replant berries.

While usually overlooked by FarmVille players, wheat is actually one of the best crops you can plant if you are interested in leveling up fast. On the surface wheat doesn't stand out and might put people off because of the low amount of coins it earns. Like most other 12 hour crops, wheat earns you 1 experience point every time you plant it, so what is it about wheat that makes it a stand out crop?

The secret to successful wheat farming in FarmVille is to gain mastery of the crop. Once you have achieved three mastery stars for wheat, the crop becomes extremely valuable. To unlock the hidden power of the wheat crop, there are a few steps you need to make before every harvest.

First of all, before you harvest a single straw of wheat, make sure to go to your market stall and click use bushels. If you have any wheat bushels make sure to use one. If you don't have any wheat bushels, start harvesting and click on the market stall as soon as you find your first bushel. Before you reach full mastery of a crop, using a bushel of that crop before you harvest it will give you double mastery points for that crop. After you have reached full mastery however the mastery bonus is useless, so instead FarmVille gives you an extra experience point for every square of wheat you harvest. This in itself is a huge boost to the experience point you can get from crops but this bonus is not unique to wheat, you can get the same bonus for any crop.

The second step you want to do is fertilize your crops. The 'Fertilize All' gift is actually one of the most valuable gifts in FarmVille since it lets you fertilize all your crops yourself. As with other crops, harvesting a fertilized square of wheat earns yet another bonus experience point. For this reason you should make sure you have a 'Fertilize All' gift available for every time you harvest your crops. The best way to get this valuable gift is to visit your neighbors and fertilize their crops. Eventually you will be rewarded the 'Fertilize All' gift. When you get your price don't visit any more neighbors, you will want to be able to go to your remaining neighbors farms when it's time to harvest your next field of wheat.

So far harvesting wheat yields 2 experience points for each square you harvest. This is a great boost from earning no experience points when harvesting regular crops, but it is still not unique to wheat. The same two point bonus can be earned for any other crop in FarmVille using the same trick. The great power of wheat is managed by the game itself. When you plant a crop that you have fully mastered, some of the plots you plant will grow to be super crops. You can see which plots will have super crops if you let the crops get ripe without fertilizing them. Many of your wheat plots will appear to have been fertilized when they have not. These are your super crops that will have you rolling in experience points.

For all of the early crops in the game, a super harvest gives one additional experience point. Wheat is different, when getting a super harvest of wheat you get an additional 6 experience points boost. This means you will get a total of 8 experience points for every super harvest of wheat if you follow the steps in this guide. If you plant a large field of wheat, this massive experience bonus will add up very fast and help you level up very fast.
