The Best Fashion Finds to Update Your Wardrobe

K. F. Lynn
With fashion trends changing every year it's hard to stay on top of what's in style and what will make you look outdated. Big purses are in one year, and out the next; one day it's cute to wear big, flowery headbands (not for us though, thanks very much...), and a week later people will tell you that you look like you're going to kindergarten. It feels like nothing is reliable anymore when it comes to trendy clothes. Unless we can afford to pay for a new wardrobe every six months, it seems like a constant race to stay up to date with fashion trends.

The good thing is that you don't have to buy a whole new wardrobe. If you haven't gone shopping in a while and want to update your wardrobe, there are a few tried-and-true, never outdated items that you shouldn't be caught without!

1. The always-chic blazer

One of the best ways to update your style is with a nice, crisp blazer. Blazers can be dressed up or down for everything from the office to a movie date. It's important to get your money's worth out of anything in your closet, and blazers are versatile pieces that give you plenty of creative fashion freedom! The Gap has adorable blazers like the White and the Classic for every occasion, for $98.

2. Timeless: the pencil skirt

Pencil skirts are back in full force! An easy way to make any outfit look effortlessly classy, a great pencil skirt should be a staple in every woman's wardrobe. The Carly ruffle skirt from Banana Republic is a playful spin on the traditional pencil skirt. Get years of great wear out of one of these-it's not going out of style anytime soon!

3. Convertible dresses

A smart way to update your wardrobe is with style that you can change with the times. Convertible dresses give you the freedom of three or more dresses in one convenient package! The Sakura dress from Henkaa, $128, lets you style your dress for any occasion in one of 18 colors.

Updating your wardrobe doesn't need to cost you an arm and a leg these days. Investing in a few great fashion staples can wind up saving you money and time. When the fashion trends change with the wind, remember that you don't always need to!
