The Best Fast Food Choices for Weight Watchers

JMichol
Eating out can become a stumbling block if you are trying to lose weight. You have to make good, healthy choices especially at fast food restaurants. Here is a list of what I consider to be the best choices when eating out at fast food restaurants. I have included the point values for all those of you that are on the Weight Watchers program. You can visit the website of each restaurant for complete nutritional information on the items and use your point calculator to figure out additional values.

McDonald's, www.mcdonalds.com

My typical order is a cheeseburger (7), side salad (0) with the low fat balsamic vinaigrette (1), and a diet soda or water (0). My meal is a total of 8 points and I'm very satisfied. I get two servings of veggies and one serving of dairy.

Lion's Choice, www.lionschoice.com

I order a roast beef on wheat, no butter (5), side salad (0) with fat free Italian dressing (0), One packet of horseradish sauce for my sandwich (1), diet soda or water (0), and sometimes I get a small vanilla cone (2). I can eat here for 6 points or 8 points including dessert. Yummy!

Lion's Choice is located in Florida, Illinois, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. If you live in one of these states you have probably feasted on the best fast food roast beef available. It is my favorite place to eat on-the-go.

Subway, www.subway.com

Most of us know of Jared Fogle, the poster boy for Subway. He lost over 200 pounds eating nothing but Subway for a year. There are so many delicious sandwiches available here that are great choices. I get the 6" turkey on wheat with all the veggies I want and spicy mustard (5) and add a serving of Swiss, provolone, pepper jack, or American cheese (1) if desired, and a diet soda or water (0). I eat at Subway for 6 points.

Taco Bell, www.tacobell.com

Who said you can't eat Taco Bell and watch your figure? I love the new Fresco Style available at Taco Bell. You can order anything Fresco Style which means the sour cream and cheese is omitted and replaced with a tomato and onion salsa (very good and 0 points!) I usually get a Ranchero Chicken soft taco (3) or a Grilled Steak soft taco (3), a Pintos 'N Cheese (3), and a diet soda or water (0). My total is 6 points unless I am very hungry and then I get all three for a total of 9 points.

Burger King, www.burgerking.com

I splurge when I come to Burger King because I love onion rings! I order a Whopper Jr. Sandwich without mayonnaise (6) a small order of onion rings (3), and a diet soda or water (0). They do offer a side salad (0), but the lowest point dressing is a light Italian (3) and I'd rather have the onion rings for the same points. I know this is not the healthiest option, but I only eat here about once every 3 months for a total of 9 points.

Chick-fil-A, www.chick-fil-a.com

This is a great alternative to the traditional fast food. I order a Char-grilled Chicken Sandwich (5) and use either the Buffalo sauce (0) or honey mustard sauce (1) to put on my sandwich, and I get a side salad (1) with the fat free honey mustard dressing (2) for the entire packet, and either diet lemonade (1) or diet soda (0). My point total is 8-10 depending what I order.
