The Best Foot Massage Can Be Found in Thailand

One of the Top Things to Do when Visitng Thailand is to Experience a Thai Foot Massage

A foot massage is the best way to rejuvenate your feet and legs after a long airplane flight to Thailand. Foot massages are very popular and inexpensive in Bangkok, Thailand. There are massage parlors everywhere you look. Most massage parlors in Thailand are not like our western style massage parlors. They are more like day spas.

The very day I arrived in Bangkok my friends who live and work there told me the first thing I needed to experience was a Thai foot massage. It really didn't take much convincing because my poor feet and legs were so tired from the long flight. Only a short taxi drive from their home is their favorite Massage Spa, so we hoped on over and the moment I walked in I felt relaxed. The smell of freshly brewed teas and aromatic oils calmed me and I knew this was going to be the best foot massage ever.

Now you can't assume that a foot massage in Thailand means you will just get your feet rubbed for an hour. Oh no! Your feet, your legs, neck, shoulders and even your back are given attention. Can you believe that you are able to have this wonderful massage treatment for the equivalent of only three US dollars? I was addicted! During my three week visit I enjoyed almost a dozen foot massages. Because we did so much walking everyday, my feet and my mind appreciated every single treatment.

One foot treatment I did not partake in Thailand was the Fish Foot Massage. It seems to be the latest craze in Thailand. What it consists of is sticking your feet in a huge tub of water with Turkish Garra Rufa fish and they eat the dead skin off of your feet. I just couldn't bring myself to the thought of placing my feet in with hundreds of fish that would eat my skin. I saw many of these spas and you could see many people sitting around big glass pools and hundreds of fish nibbling on their feet. I am sorry but that just wasn't for me. Maybe on my next trip I will have the courage!

I miss the Thai foot massage now that I have returned home to the States. Massages are very expensive here and my budget will not allow such a luxury. But whenever I return to Thailand I know that I will make time in my itinerary for many foot massages!
