The Best Free Online Game Sites

Free online games are a great diversion to keep you occupied at home and at even at work. Whether you have spent your day listening to a bloated, irritable, pregnant woman or just put in eight hours of pure hell at your miserable job, free online games are a great way to relax and blow off a little steam. I have put together a small list of some of the best free online game sites available on the Internet. Some might require you to sign up but many do not.

Gametap

Any gamer has seen a commercial or advertisement for Gametap but they don't mention that you can find a ton of free online games on their site. You will have to create a free account (no credit card required), and download the Gametap launcher to play. I listed this site first because you can find many awesome games that you are probably pretty familiar with. In the free section, you can find old arcade classics such as Joust, Burgertime, and Root Beer Tapper. The best thing about the free games on Gametap is they also include some great newer games. You can play Deus Ex, the Hitman series, Tomb Raider games, and even the highly acclaimed Psychonauts absolutely free. These are not demos, they are complete games. If you are too lazy to dig around looking for something specific, just type "free online games" into your search engine and odds are you will end up at freeonlinegames.com. This site has tons of flash games that are great for your lunch break and don't require a large time commitment. You can try your hand at shooting, fighting, racing, adventure, arcade, fun, puzzle, rpg, and sports games. This site is good for all ages as you won't find too many NSFW (not safe for work) games here.

Newgrounds

Newgrounds has much more than free online games. You can find all kinds of cool stuff here such as videos, music, and original cartoons. Newgrounds is a bit more alternative than some other free online game sites. They have all of the standard flash games such as sports, rpgs, and defense games but they also have a very distinguished NSFW section. Here you will find games that let you date drug dealing anime girls, beat up virtual babies and puppies, or shoot your favorite celebrities with various firearms. If you want a free online game that has a twisted sense of humor, this is a good place to check.

Kontraband

Another free online game site that also offers videos, music, and original media of all types. Kontraband has a lot of free online games similar to Newgrounds. If you want to play something a little different, this site is great. Where else can you find a game like Billy Suicide. Your goal is to keep Billy happy so he doesn't kill himself! You can also find traditional flash games but many on this site are NSFW.

Shockwave

If you want something very basic that everyone in the family can enjoy, the free online games at Shockwave are a great choice. You can find your typical block stacking, match three, and brain teaser games along with games like Bejeweled and Diner Dash. Some games on the site will only give you a limited time to play but most of the games in the online games section are completely free to play. You may need to register for a free account.

These five sites have enough free online games to keep you occupied until the Earth gets sucked into a black hole or until your wife kicks you out for ignoring her. Pogo is free and my older relatives play it religiously but the others will usually offer you a free hour of play with the option to purchase the full game when that time expires.
