The Best Free Shows on the Las Vegas Strip

Excitement litter the streets of Las Vegas; while most of the excitement unfortunately costs the average tourist their hard earn money, there are some excellent free shows in the heart of Las Vegas that tourists can enjoy. Here are some of the best ones:

The Sirens of TI - Once upon a time, the Treasure Island hotel / casino boasted an exciting and fantabulous free pirate show in front of their hotel complete with explosions and splashes. However, in an effort to appeal the adult crowd, Treasure Island was transformed into TI and the kid friendly pirate show was transformed into the seductive "Sirens of TI". Located at the Siren Cove in front of treasure island where the ships are located, this show is performed nightly at 7:00pm, 8:30pm, 10:00pm, and 11:30pm. While still providing the explosions and splashes of its pirate predecessor, the Sirens of TI also provides some seductive song and dance for the audience. Personally, I enjoy the pirate show more as the new show inadvertently sends young girls the wrong message that being a glamorous stripper is quite fun! Nonetheless, this show has become a staple of the Las Vegas Strip and show be seen at least one by visiting tourists.

Volcano at Mirage - The Volcano has been one of Vegas' signature attraction since 1989. Shaking the earth and shooting fire into the sky, the volcano erupts nightly every 30 minutes. Try to catch this show before or after visiting Sirens of TI as they are within walking distance of each other. Unfortunately, the volcano is currently being renovated until the end of 2008. The good news is that when the volcano returns, you can be sure that it'll be bigger and better than ever!

The Fountains at Bellagio - My personal favorite, this free show is located at the large pond in front of the Bellagio hotel/casino. The fountain performs with beatifully choreographed water jets every 30 minutes from 3:00pm to 8:00pm and every 15 minutes from 8:00pm to 12:00am. Due to the frequent show times, the crowds are not as dense enhancing enjoyment of the show. Be sure to catch this show after nightfall as the beauty of the lighted water jets is not just captivating but mesmerizing. Perhaps the most romantic and classy free show in Las Vegas, this show is a nice addition to any romantic date. Of course, kids enjoy this show immensely as well.

Festival Fountain Show at West Wings of Forum Shops Caesar's Palace - Many years ago, this was the premier free show in Las Vegas. Animatronic robotics moved about on their pedestals and talked about how greatness that is Caesar's Palace. Of course, with the generation moving toward excitement and bright flashing lights, the show has renovated itself through the years. Now, the show boasts not only do the robots talk about how much they love Caesar's Palace, it also shoots out crazy and random lasers to make the experience more exciting. The show is slightly cheesy, but enjoyable to young kids and provides a nice diversion from all the shopping. This free show activates daily at the top of the hour from 10:00am to 11:00pm.

Fall of Atlantis Show at East Wing of Forum Shops Caesar's Palace - Also located inside the Forums Shops, the Fall of Atlantis is an even more exciting free show than Festival Fountain. This show, also occuring daily at the top of the hour and acted out by robots, depicts an exciting battle between the fire and water to gain King Atlas' throne. Complete with laser lights and intense fire, this show is also a delight to young children. While the adults might also find this show cheesy, visitors to Las Vegas show at least see this show one time!

Circus Acts at Circus Circus - Located at the center stage of the midway Arcade at Circus Circus, the free circus acts are performed daily from 11:00am until midnight. Skilled acrobats, balancers, and jugglers perform a variety of amazing stunts that are sure to put anyone in awe. The truly fantastic feats performed makes this show a must see. The whole show is of course free which is icing on top of the cake.

Fremont Street Experience at Downtown Las Vegas - Boasting the biggest big screen TV on the planet hovering 90 feet above ground, the Fremont Street Experience is located at the heart of old downtown Las Vegas. Match with upbeat and Vegas style tunes, lights and images flash across the giant LED plasma screen daily 8:30pm, 9:00pm, 10:00pm, 11:00pm, and 12am. Each light show at each show time is different, unique, and definitely a sight to behold. While the show is free, parking in the Las Vegas downtown area does cost about $2. But that parking fee allows you to not only enjoy the Fremont Street light show but give you the opportunity to explore classic Vegas Casinos, unique shops, and sometimes even free concert events!

Don't let some of the other advertisements fool you, the above seven shows are the most worthwhile and exciting to see while in Las Vegas. Until next time, travel well and prosper!
