The Best Gifts

Shirley A Mandel
I had a special Christmas one year. Because my then husband had a military obligation, I was blessed with being able to spend the winter in Hawaii. The catch was that I didn't have two pennies to rub together. But the place was so beautiful that it didn't matter much. I had God's creation all around me so I was content.

Ditto today. Now I have snow swept meadows all around me where the haystacks look like frosted cupcakes. And the town nearby is all decked out in garland, and everthing is still beautiful. And I'm still content.

The best gifts
come from God:
A glorious pink=flamingo sunrise
over a Hawaiian sea,
A palefaced moon over the same South sea
that casts a silvery path to the starry sky,
Morning and night.
Waking and repose.
The best gifts in life
come from God Almighty.
So be content already.

Shirley, I popped in this morning to read a few of my favs - I think I mentioned to you that I am taking a few grant writing courses so that I can help non-profits in my community. Classes begin in Jan 2012. I will still pop in from time to time to read/comment. Merry Christmas, my friend and Cheers! for the New Year!
