The Best Golf Courses in Michigan

Brett Theron
Although it may not seem like it, the state of Michigan has many great golf courses. I have made a list of what I believe are the best golf courses in Michigan. Of course a lot of this is personal opinion, so feel free to comment on what courses you think should have been on the list. If enough courses are submitted, then a Best Golf Courses in Michigan: Part 2 of the list may be coming. Keep in mind that this list only includes the top 4 public courses.

Arcadia Bluffs

Located in Arcadia, Michigan, almost every list will have this course as the best in Michigan. Some people even argue that Arcadia Bluffs is one of the best golf courses in the United States. This course has a distinct "British" feel. It has a style that makes it unique and separates itself from every other golf course. Arcadia Bluffs is loaded with 50 bunkers, all of which have sod walls. The golf course is nestled right next to Lake Michigan, and has over 3,000 feet on the shoreline. Greens Fee: $180.

Forest Dunes

This magnificent golf course is located in Roscommon, Michigan, and may be the only course that can rival the beauty of Arcadia Bluffs. Forest Dunes' cart path is made up of all brick, which gives it a very unique feel. The course architect did their job by making every hole unique and different. It has too many bunkers to count, and is a thrill to look at, let alone play. Greens Fee: $125.

Timberstone

The third best golf course in Michigan is Timberstone golf course. Timberstone is located in Iron Mountain, Michigan. There are a ton of trees surrounding the playing area, so add a couple more sleeves of balls if you are going to play here. Timberstone is the only Michigan public golf course that was awarded five stars by Golf Digest. Greens Fee: $68.

Eagle Eye

The last course on the list of the best golf courses in Michigan is Eagle Eye. It is located in Bath, Michigan, and is a must play for every golfer. The course has made an almost perfect replication hole from the par 3 island hole and TPC at Sawgrass. Eagle Eye is known for having the best greens keeping staff. They keep their bunkers, greens, fairways, and tee stations perfect. Greens Fee: $85.

Michigan is full of outstanding golf courses. If you have the means, and the money, then I suggest playing these four courses that are the best golf courses in Michigan.
