Halloween is one of the most celebrated holiday's in the United States. Every year millions of children and adults prepare for this fun yet spooky night. Halloween is just simply fun for everyone, whether you stay home and pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters or go out to some awesome party, you're sure to have a great time. During Halloween I've always enjoyed dressing up and going to parties and more than anything I love going to haunted houses. In my opinion the scariest haunted houses are the best because if they can truly scare me, I feel that I got my moneys worth. Listed below are some of the best haunted houses in the Metro Detroit Area.

Terror In Townsend Forest - Located at 4770 Waterford Road, Clarkston, MI 48346 phone (248) 623-0444. This haunted house is sponsored by the Oakland County Sportsmen's Club, parking is free and it's open from 6:00pm -10:30pm. Admission $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

The Scream Machine - Located at 21207 Eureka Road, Taylor, MI In the shopping plaza next to the Gibralter Trading Center phone # (734) 341-3379. This haunted house opens at 7pm every night (call for the opening date) parking is free and the ticket prices range from $15-$18, group rates are available.

Cass Community Detroit Urban Legends - Located at 3901 Cass Ave. Detroit, MI 48201, phone (313) 883-2227. This is a truly scary haunted house with lots of special effects and it's not recommended for small children under 5. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for children, groups of 12 or more will receive a discount. This haunted house is sponsored by The Cass Community Social Services and the proceeds will be used to help homeless women and children. It will be open every weekend in October starting October 16, 2009.

The Crypt Haunted House - Located at G4247 Dort Hwy, Burton, MI 48529. The phone # is (810) 742-2260. This is a very scary haunted house with lots of special effects and many unexpected thrills. The Crypt is not recommended for children under 5 ( call to find out opening dates). The parking's is free and tickets start at $10 per person.

Erwin Orchards Corn Maze - Located at 61475 Silver Lake Road, South Lyon, MI 48178. This haunted house is truly fun for the whole family, they have wagon rides for $5, the barn of horror for $7 and a spooky haunted house with tickets ranging from $11-$15 per person. Zoo Boo - Located at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak, MI 8450 W Ten Mile Road. The Detroit Zoo puts on a spectacular family-friendly Halloween event every year.
