The Best Holiday Gifts for Newlyweds

Holiday Gift Guide

Jesus Saves

Do you know any friends this holiday season that just got married? Getting gifts for a newlywed couple is not hard at all, and you don't need to let your soul be vexed over what to get. Primarily there is a simple rule that you would want to follow - get them something that promotes a strong healthy marriage and will help develop their marriage. Then break down down into sections what the struggles of this couple could be. There are many newlyweds who struggle with physical intimacy because one of the partners had slept around before. As opposed to what the media and the culture might portray, a vast majority of people wish, hope and pray their entire young lives that their future husband or wife will be someone who kept themselves pure before marriage and will be faithful afterwards. Anyways, so you want to get gifts that are going to promote a stronger marriage for the couple. Other areas where many young couples struggle are finances and with selfishness. Here are a few ideas for gifts that will help the young couples start off well:

Get them a large print Bible with books for men and women - An excellent book for men is Disciplines of a Godly Man. A very good book for women, that every woman should read is Lies Women Believe. I recommended a large print Bible because the two will be able to sit down side by side and be able to read easily without one having to lean in to read it. There is nothing better than letting the Creator of marriage and humans dictate how to live a married life. In fact, what the Bible says about marriage is an oft-ignored formula in this society and leads to much despair and divorce. This is by far the best gift you can give them. You can also place a couple of good Bible tracts that emphasize on repentance and passionate pursuit of God. This is another really important area of marriage - if both the husband and the wife and passionately pursuing God, the conflict in their marriage will be reduced by a huge degree.

Gift cards to a local store - One of the biggest problems that many newlyweds face is the lack of any funds. They spend so much on the wedding and the parties, that they then struggle to get the ends met. This is a big problem especially in the credit card crazy culture that we live in. As such, it's important to be careful about the finances. Getting them gift cards to a store such as Traget, Walmart and such, while not glamorous, is something that most of them will appreciate. A good amount to go buy is between $20 and $50 depending on how close you are, and how your finances play out. However, it's good to combine the gift card with a book that gives them good direction about handling money in a godly manner. A good one is Money Matters by Crown Financial Group. This is something that just about every newlywed will appreciate and be grateful for without feeling burdened.

An internet filter - One of the leading problems in this culture today is that of pornography addiction. This is a gift for only the closest of friends, not for just every newlywed you know of. A good internet filter will essentially block out most of, if not all of, the adult and illicit conetent while you surf. This is very important for a good marriage. Studies have shown that pornogrpahy is a full blown addiction that becomes uncontrollable after a while, making a person a slave to it (interestingly, that's what the Bible says too - He who sins is a slave to sin). And just like tobacco, brug and alcohol addictions, this is something that can slowly develop over time. Secondly, a good internet filter is essential for a Godly family and especially for kids later on.
