The first thing to do is get up. Get up from the couch, computer, or book (although reading can make you relaxed, which is always good in today's fast paced society) and move. Go for a walk, or a bike ride, or just play some games with your kids outside. Nothing will make you feel better than good old fashioned, naturally produced by our own body, adrenaline. Gwenda Blair said it best in her Shape, 2005 article when she said "Adrenaline evolved as part of our fight-or-flight response to stress, and it's what gives us that geared-up feeling." That 'geared-up feeling' can motivate you to get up again. This is the first and most important beauty tip. By getting active, you will not only feel physically better for getting in better shape but also you will feel better emotionally and overall mentally. I know, I am one of the laziest, computer playing people I know, and I decided to not just take my dog out for a 1 minute walk to her favorite spot but to actually take her out for a short walk every day. We go for a 15 minute walk everyday and I can feel the differences in my whole body. My emotions are easier to deal with, physically I am not getting as tired, and my skin has gotten a nice glow.
The next beauty tip that can be made at home is my great banana oatmeal facial. This is one that I came up with when I had a natural bath and body company. All you need is 1 banana, 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 oatmeal (finely ground), 1 teaspoon honey, and 1 teaspoon lemongrass, and 1 teaspoon almond meal. Take all the ingredients, except the milk, and put them into a blender. Slowly add the milk until you get a smooth, but thick facial. Apply it to your face, leave it for 15 minutes while you just sit and read that book I told you to put down a little bit ago. Rinse your face, and feel how soft it feels. The oatmeal and almond will exfoliate while the banana, milk, honey and lemongrass will all add nutrients.
Another tip I can offer is to get plenty of sleep. Sleep will increase the natural serotonin that you body produces. Serotonin is known to help control your mood, your appetite, and the lack there of has been linked to depression. Your body naturally produces this chemical during the sleep process. So get plenty of good, restful, un-interrupted sleep. One thing to help do this is to go out and get moving so that your so exhausted, like me, that you can't stay awake!
