These five homemade Halloween costume ideas can be made with things around the house and don't take a long time to assemble.

Homemade Halloween Costumes For Kids

Kitty Kids Halloween Costume

A black cat costume is easy to whip up in a hurry. You'll need a black marker, black long sleeved shirt, black tights, black flats, a headband, cardboard and black eyeliner. Cut the cardboard into two triangles to make the cat ears.

Use the marker to color them and you can tape them to the headband. The same can be done with black felt. After dressing, use the eyeliner to draw whiskers on your child's face. Line the eyes for a dramatic look and use a black, stuffed stocking as a tail.

Homemade Mummy Halloween Costume for Kids 2009

This classic Halloween costume will look fabulous and scary compared to any plastic store bought Halloween costume. You'll need old white rags or towels, long johns, white shirt, white foundation, scissors, black eyeliner and green or yellow eye shadow. Use the long johns as your base then wrap your child with old rags.

Cut rags with scissors and rip them to get that tattered mummy look. Use foundation and smear the eye shadow on cheeks and under eyes to look dead. Heavily line the eyes to make them pop. Make sure to wrap around the head!

Lego Block Kids Halloween Costume

You'll need a cardboard box that is about the same size as your child, red or blue paint, paintbrush, matching plastic cups, glue, suspenders and a few hours to let this project dry. Slice open the top and bottom of the box and fold flaps inward. Set aside to dry for an hour and glue cups, facing down, onto the box to resemble a Lego block. Staple the suspenders to the box to complete.

Homemade Turtle Costume for Kids 2009

This is s very easy costume to assemble. You just need to dress your kid in green sweat pants, a green sweater or T-shirt, a green backpack and a green beanie. Cut large pieces of brown felt and assemble them over the backpack to make the turtle shell. You can use green face paint as well for this homemade kids Halloween costume.

Quick and Easy Ghost Costume

A sheet, scissors, foundation and a white sheet is all you need for this Halloween costume. Cut a hole in the sheet that is large enough to put your child's face through it. This will make it easier than having eyeholes and make crossing the street safe!
