Create a Fantastic Gift for Mom on Mothers Day

For Mothers Day don't waste time walking the department store isles looking for the perfect gift when you can easily make the best homemade gift ever! I have put together step-by-step photos showing you how to create wonderful crafts for all ages that will make any mom smile! Add your own personal touches and design if you want and some may even inspire you to create your very own homemade gift!

The best thing about a craft project is substitution. If you do not have construction paper, you can color white paper with crayons, or you can use tape instead of glue, or use something you find in an old junk drawer to embellish it. That is what makes arts and crafts fun! So don't think you have to follow these instructions to a tee, it's basically a guide to help you create your own art!

The Hand Print & Poem Craft

Starting off, I looked at several websites to get some ideas when I came across a poster with a hand print and poem. It was a little bland, no color except for the hand print, so I decided to take it up a notch!

I had some scrapbook paper that I had not used yet, waiting for the perfect day when inspiration would hit me--and it finally did! I designed two layouts using poster board, construction paper, scrapbook paper, and with a little glue they came out beautiful. I found a Mothers Day poem at www.dltk-kids.com ( I love this website!) that worked perfectly.

Handwriting the poem will melt mom's heart, but I do not have good handwriting, so I printed it, cut it out and glued it to some construction paper.

Paper Roll Butterfly Craft
This craft is very simple, and you may have all the supplies you need already. First, a paper roll or toilet paper roll, pink and purple construction paper, glue, a marker, and tape if you have it.

I found this while searching for craft ideas and when I clicked on the website it threw up warnings the website would not open. So I decided I would just figure it out on my own. The original showed pipe cleaners for the antennae but I did not have any at the time, so I curled some strips of construction paper and it worked out great. A great idea would be to make more than one, make mom a set of beautiful butterflies!

Mothers Day Wreath

This one is an oldie but a goody! Why do I say that? Because a couple of years ago I seen this type of craft on DLTK Kids www.dltk-kids.com for a Thanksgiving Craft and since then I have deemed it my responsibility to create one for every holiday! And I will! I can tell that my mistake with this craft is using the white poster board, I should have covered it in pink or purple construction paper because you can see too much of the white base showing thru, so next time, I'll be sure to do that!

This craft can be a little time consuming, but it makes a great decoration to hang on your wall!

Bouquet of Lollipops

A friend of mine made beautiful centerpieces for her child's valentine party and I felt like this was a craft that could be used for Mothers Day as well as birthdays and other ocassions.

I had some empty cans that I was saving just in case a good idea came my way so when it did I set to work creating the Lollipop Bouquet.

You could use a small or large can, but I did opt for the large can because the floral foam that I picked up at the dollar store fit perfectly. I covered the cans in construction paper and used scrapbook paper as an accent boarder around the middle of the can. I wrapped the lollipop sticks in floral tape and used plastic green leaves off of some cheap flowers to add filler and help cover the foam at the top of the can. I am hoping to spend some time at the candy store to see what other ideas we pick up for this craft as it is certainly easy, inexpensive, and pretty. I would love to incorporate some new ideas into this one!
