The Best Items to Keep Your Infant or Toddler Entertained!

Amber Domke
When you become pregnant you begin reading everything you can get your hands on. You want to be prepared for every possible scenario when the baby arrives. As they get older you'll rely on friends who have children and also the internet and magazines to help you figure out what are the best baby items to buy to keep your child entertained.

There comes a time when you start to feel as if you can't get anything done. You feel as if you have to entertain your baby all the time. You wonder if your house will ever be clean again. Or if the laundry will get done and so on. So, let me share a few items with you that got me through those early years. One of the things that was a lifesaver for us was an exersaucer. We purchased one when my son was about six months old. It was probably one of the best things we purchased while he was an infant. They are a bit pricey, but I promise you they are worth it! You can go to any search engine and type in exersaucer and you are likely to come up with several hits. There are now several on the market and I can promise you it is something that will keep your infant entertained long enough for you to get any of those small tasks done you wouldn't otherwise be able to do!

Another suggestion I have are the Baby Einstein Dvds. I know they say not to put your baby in front of a tv that young, but if you are just needing to grab a shower or do something quick I think it's ok. When my son was real young I'd put him in his exersaucer in front of the tv with a Baby Einstein Dvd. I did this just long enough for me to grab a shower and then I'd turn it off. It allowed me to get a shower and he was happy as could be. He had toys to play with and he also had a fun show to watch as well. They have a huge variety of them and you can find them just about anywhere such as WalMart, Target, etc.

Lastly I'd suggest almost anything that is made by Leap Frog. We had so many Leap Frog items and our kids loved them. They'd sit and play with them for a long time. You can go to http://shop.leapfrog.com/leapfrog/ to see most if not all of their items. We had the alphabet drum when the kids were pretty little and they loved it. They enjoyed hitting it so the letters would light up and it would also say what each letter was. It kept them amused for quite awhile. We also had the Alphabet Pal, Learning Tad, Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal Set and probably more items. All I know is that we didn't go wrong with a single Leap Frog product so I highly recommend trying them out.

Any of these items should work if you are needing to entertain your child for a short period of time. Good luck and I hope they work for you as well as they did for us. It's always nice to be able to get dinner made without a needy baby or toddler at your feet!
