United States of America
It may sound biased, but the military makes Goldsboro with its people and special events. Often, the military does an airshow every year called Wings Over Wayne. Imagine a nice warm day where the soft breeze tickles your chin. Anticipation goes through your bones while you sit staring out of your window at the green car that is going four miles an hour. Of course, you know that it is not there fault because traffic is back up for miles around. Finally, you arrive at the gate. Everyone in the car cheers, for it has taken two hours to drive ten miles. You guide around following the instructions of the Security Police doing traffic control. As you finally find a spot to park, you get out of your silver colored SUV. As you and your wife happily get out of your car you hear the roar of a thunderbird jet buzzing the skies from the airshow. Then you smell fresh pizza, popcorn, and other foods as you walk around from the parking lot arriving on the flightline. This is just one of the ways the military and community work together here. There are many other things as well. The military personnel make up the majority of the economical spending, and the base provides jobs for many of thre civilians. The military also has many volunteers that go out into the community.
Inside the community, there is a large variety of gardens. One garden in particular is the winery. It is called "A Secret Garden Winery". Now open
for tours and tasting on Thursday, Friday, Saturday 9~ 6, and Sunday 1 ~ 6 it is. This is supposed to be one of the finest places around. If you go there, you'll be greeted by Linda, her husband Gerald, and Muscadine Molly. This winery is located near Goldsboro, however, there are many other gardens in Goldsboro too. The flowers are pretty, the trees are nice, and the air is crisp. There are great farms here too. One thing about beautiful outdoors areas is also the fact that there are nice barbecues and cookouts to be had in the consistly warm weather. Then there is the church environment.
The church environment and family life is wonderful, yet by far, the Navigators group is one of the best for family and friendship. There you will find a group of people that you can intensely study the bible with. Also, in this group, the people there work on building strong relationships and discipleship. It may not seem like much, but good family development is a wonderful thing to be had. One can learn a lot from this group and each person is like steel sharpening steel. I have grown a geat deal because of these people and the relationships groomed here. A man named Mike Moss teaches the studies here making people think and strongly sticking to the Bible. He and his wife Mrs. Moss make everyone feel like family. Family atmosphere and spiritual growth is a great thing about being here. Then, of course, visiting a place is nothing without a place to stay.
Here the Hampton Inns is one of the nicer places to stay. People have left very good comments about this place. This one is on 905 North Spence Avenue. The average price is about $106. One customer states, "Just when you think a place could not get better?" A nice hotel is not much, but in conjunction with the other nice things this is a good thing to have. This inn is like being at a utopia or your very own cozy suite. There are many novelties here too at the inn.
Secrets of Goldsboro lay in the fact that this town actually has some nice things about it and it is not a hole in the ground. So perhaps, if you drive through here, you might stay for a week and visit. Perhaps around May 12th, 2007 you will stop by and see the "Wings Over Wayne" airshow. While here, you could swing by "A Secret Garden Winery" near Goldsboro in Pikeville. On Wednesday night, at 1900 or seven o' clock you could visit the Navigators Bible study and spiritually grow gaining wisdom and friendship. Then you can also stay at the Hampton Inn and enjoy nice southern hospitality. The secret of Goldsboro is that if you are willing look into it then it is more beautiful than many places around the states. Here you just have to know where to go to enjoy the beauty of such calm and relaxing place.

Post a CommentThe base and area is beautiful, but it is easy to get homesick too. I can surely relate to that.
I liked living in Goldsboro, apart from the fact that I was really homesick! My husband and I enjoyed taking walks on the base and picking grapes or just admiring the scenery. I also liked the southern hospitality. People were so friendly. You don't see that as much around here in northern California.
