Over the years I have eaten at all of these restaurants. Raised by the daughter of a well known restaurant owner in Korea, my tastes are more refined-refined enough to see which restaurants are good or bad. These are several Korean restaurants in Minneapolis that get my seal of approval.
King's Restaurant
Website: kingsrestaurant.com
Price: $-$$
King's Restaurant is just outside Minneapolis, located in one of Minneapolis's biggest suburbs. It is worth the drive. King's Restaurant has the finest Korean food available in Minnesota, featuring savory bulgogi, spicy Kimchi jjigae, tempting Naengmyun, and an even wider selection of unfamiliar dishes such as Nakji Bokum (a favorite of mine). Their food takes me back to more tranquil times in Seoul and Anyang, chowing on food while chatting wildly with my aunts and uncles. Their food is simply prepared, is not salty, and offers the perfect balance between authentic cuisine and affordably priced dishes. Expect to pay low to mid range for all entrees.
Hoban Restaurant
Website: Hobanrestaurant.com
Price: $
Hoban Restaurant is the closest you'll get to Korean food by the Mall of America. Although small and not too heavy on the decor, Hoban Restaurant is run by friendly Korean hosts that serve unique but flavorful dishes. The most interesting addition to their menu is bulgogi with rice cakes, cooked and marinated to a savory finish. It's one of the best entrees on the menu. Their other selections are unique renditions of Korean classics, delicious and always done right. Hoban Restaurant is cheap too!
Korea House
Phone: (612) 339-0385
Price: $
Korea House is actually run by a Vietnamese couple with a flair for Korean cuisine, and although it does not taste authentic, it is still very, very good. Korea House is their version of fast, simple Korean fast food, and favorites such as Bulgogi and Mandu are fast fried, soaked, and served up in quick eat-as-you-go serving dishes. Korea House is easy to access also, just a turn away on Cedar Ave South off Highway 94.
These restaurants are the best Korean restaurants in Minneapolis, easily accessible by highways 494 and 94. It's rare to find authentic Korean restaurants in Minneapolis, but they serve up dishes that pack a lot of bite.
