Are you visiting the Orlando area, but would prefer some "quiet time" away from the crowded tourist areas to enjoy lunch or dinner? New to Orange, Seminole, Eastern Lake or South Volusia counties and would rather eat somewhere different, but don't really have an idea where to go? Want to watch nature while you enjoy your meal? Well, you are in luck! Here are some of the Sanford area's best restaurants for seniors.

First on my list is "Scruffy Duffers".This quaint, friendly restaurant/sports bar and grill with the golfing motif is locally owned and operated. They are conveniently located about a mile or so East of I-4 on SR 46 (exit 101c). Call (407) 936 - 0889 for directions or to place an order. Free local delivery is also available. The place has become so popular lately that they were forced to add additional parking in the adjacent lot! "Scruffy Duffers" is open for lunch and dinner, usually closing around 11 pm or so.They are reasonably priced and have delicious daily lunch specials/combos, a Chef's special every Wednesday, bottled beer, draft beer and wine. There is an outdoor dining area, complete with a wheelchair accessible ramp, where you can smoke after you eat and listen to the water fountain that is even visible from indoors. Every Friday night they have a free-to-enter Trivia contest with cash prizes. There is live music every other Saturday night and bikers are always welcome. Ask for Dawn or Chuck when you stop-in. They are very friendly, customer-orientated people and will treat you like family...well, not exactly like family. They won't make you do the dishes or ask to borrow your car or money, but they will treat you fair!

For the budget conscience folks, "Denny's" offers good food for a good price. Located at 4650 W. SR 46, less than 1/4 mile east of I-4 (exit 101c), "Denny's" offers AARP members coffee for $1.00 all day, everyday. In addition to "Denny's" well advertised menu items for $2, $4, $6, and $8, look for "America's Favorite Coupon Book" in local convenience stores and clip the coupon for 20% off the entire check! Now your $6 Southern Omelet, your spouse's $4 "Everyday Grand Slam" and two coffee's just went down $2.20! Hey! That's the tip! And to make it even better, breakfast is served anytime or you can call ahead, (407) 330 - 7775, and get it to go! Visit www.dennys.com for directions and/or other locations.

Sticking with the economically aware theme, "Bbee's" , located near the intersection of Sanford avenue and SR 46, is a long-time local favorite. Call (407) 328 - 8554 for directions or take-out. They're open daily for breakfast and lunch, closing at 2pm. The breakfast crowd starts filling the parking lot everyday around 6 am for menu greats like the "Sam Massacre", "Mona Liza", "Fat Pig", "Walt Special", and the very popular "Gyro Omelet". Nearly every menu item is below $6.50. The portions are generous and the new owners are very accommodating as well.

For the serenity alone, I would suggest venturing downtown to the waterfront. "Wolfy's" is a Key West style bar and grill on Lake Monroe. There is ample parking, great food and breathtaking sunsets. You can enjoy your inexpensive meal on the wrap around, screened-in porch or inside the spacious air-conditioned dining room. Call (407) 322 - 4255 or visit http://wolfys.com for an aerial view photograph, menu descriptions and directions.

Regardless of your budget, there is a restaurant in Sanford for your dining and/or entertainment needs. These are only a few of my personal suggestions and this space is too limited to list the others! Come visit us in the suburbs of Orlando, "the city beautiful". We are a mere 20 minutes away! Take I-4 East and follow the signs. You won't be disappointed.
