With a state nearly surrounded by water it's no suprise that South Fkorida has an abundance of local waterparks. The following is a quick guide of the best local waterparks in the area:

Sun N Fun Lagoon- 239-252-4021 - 15000 Livingston rd. Naples, FL 34109
Sun N Fun has 4 pools, 5 waterslides, lazy river, interactive water fountains, as well as a lap pool and water guns. They're open in the summertime from 10am- 5pm, 7 days a week. Between August 31st and October 31st, the park is only open weekends from 10am-5pm.For just $12, people taller than 48 inches (and just $5.50 if under 48 inches) can spend an entire day wading in the water or playing on the slides.

Grapeland Water Park- 305-960-2950 - 1550 NW 36th AVE - Miami, FL 33126
If you're looking for a fun day away from the beach, but still in the water while in Miami, Grapeland Water Park is the place to be! It features 4 water slides, a lazy river, as well as a large recreation pool. Although it is only open on weekends from 10am to 6 pm, it is a local gathering spot for teens in the area. Miami-Dade County residents receive discounted prices, but all will enjoy the low price of $12 for people over 14 and $5 for ages 4 thru 13.

Tropical Splash Water Playground- 954-321-1170 Central Broward Regional Park
I know several people who have recommended taking swimming lessons at Tropical Splash. The park features two huge interactive water playgrounds and boat rentals. Admission is $5.00 per person, and the park is open November 7 to March 12, 7 days a week, 8:00am-6:00pm. There are extended hours from March 13 to November 5, 7 days a week 8:00am-7:30pm.

Calypso Bay- (561) 790 -6160, 151 Lamstein Lane, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411
With lots of features, Calypso Bay offers great prices for their guests at just $10.30 for adults 12 and over, and $8.30 for children 3-11. The best part about this park is the 897-foot river ride! There is also a lily pad walk, (2) four-story high waterslides, children's water playground, lap pool with diving boards. Calypso Bay is open during the summer: Monday-Friday 10:30am-5:00pm, Saturdays 10am-6pm, Sundays, 12:00-6:00pm

Coconut Cove Waterpark- (561) 274-1140,11200 Park Access Rd, Boca Raton, FL 33498
This tiny water park is a great place to take small children because you don't have to worry so much about crowd safety as parents would at larger parks. Coconut Cove features an area for small children, two slides for older children and a lazy river. Open March- September, admission costs $10.30 for adults 12 and over.

Rapids Water Park-(561) 842-8756, 6566 N. Military, West Palm Beach, FL 33407
Rapids Water Park features 29 waterslides and a lazy river. This is the largest of the local water parks, taking up a total space of 25 acres! The admission price of nearly $40 per adult is well worth it! The Rapids's staff are friendly and the shear number of slides will make any water park enthusiast very happy. They are open March-early September from 9am-6pm.
