Miami Beach or what is now called "South Beach" was my home for many years, I spent my teen years growing up in this ever changing little island, spent some of my married years there as well and now live about a 30 minute drive from "the beach" as we old-timers call it....I've seen quite a lot of changes in this city and one that is close to my heart...Epicure market is one such place that has seen its share of changes...yet in many ways has stayed the same, in particular, the quality of the food they prepare, serve and sell....for many it is still a neighborhood market as it was mine for quite some time, and now I can't go to "the beach" without paying them a visit and leaving them some of my bank account when I bring home some of their truly special goodies.

When celebrities are in town, you just know they will find a way to Epicure for those very special meals and snacks... You just never know who you will run into at one of the counters

This is the place to go if you want prepared foods to bring home for meals or just for snacks...they shop the world over for the very best in merchandise...from frozen meals to hot and cold meals and sides prepared fresh each day, everything is always perfectly prepared.

Need a quick sandwich? Go to the deli counter and pick up a Chopped Liver on rye, or a Corned Beef on a fresh made roll. They even have sandwiches made already in the to-go counter. Need a hot meal? Grab a number and wait in line for a roast duck or slab of ribs...or chicken or one of the many specials of the day.

Over in the frozen food section you will find all sorts of interesting concoctions, my favorite is the stuffed cabbage, just pop in the oven for about an hour and you are good to go...in the mood for hot homemade soup, in the prepared cold section you will fine chicken soup with matzo balls, New England clam chowder, or fresh vegetable soup, minestrone, even carrot soup. They also have chicken pot pies, kasha, lasagna, and more...for dessert, try the rice pudding....my favorite of all rice puddings

Though-out the store you will find that they have the most incredible meat market with only the best cuts of prime meat, a fantastic cheese selection, this store is the only one I have ever found my favorite French cheese from the southwest region of France along with cheeses from many other countries....I just love when they have a taste testing on when I am there.

Up and down the aisles are imported foods from around the world, cookies, candies, pastas, sauces, you name it, they have it...the freshest produce is available as well with salads of many varieties ready to go

And then there is the bakery...I am in heaven when I look at the most gorgeous displays of decorated cakes, pastries, cookies including my favorite Black and White cookies along with a vast selection of hot fresh breads...the scents wafting out of the bakery alone are to die for..

And now they have opened small café near the main entrance with tables outside and inside...the best coffees are available and if you pick up a sandwich or a meal you can sit there for as long as you like, people watching while you have a snack.

But all these goodies come at a price...nothing is cheap in this establishment but, as with all good things, you have to pay the price for quality.

Epicure Market is one of Miami Beaches most popular markets and has established itself one of the best reputations for good quality food and service...I know I just can't stay away when I go to "the beach" even if it's just to pick up a cookie!

P.S. My uncle (he wasn't really relate but we called him our uncle) had a banana tree in his yard and I remember how odd it was to see the bananas growing the opposite of the way I always thought they grew, lol....and one time I nearly got beamed by a coconut falling out of a tree.

I have such memories of Miami Beach. We had relatives who lived near there and we'd drop by about once a year. We'd drive the whole way and it was something to smell that ocean air! Love the review too!

I love the idea of the French cheeses. What food from Europe I do happen to come across here is overpriced and in very short supply.
