Along with the rest of the northwestern United States, Washington has always been known for it's spectacular beauty. Once you get bored with the hustle and bustle of Seattle be sure to check out some of Washington's great mountain bike trails. Mountain biking is a great way to see the natural beauty of Washington and get a great workout at the same time. Here are some of the best trails in Washington you should check out next time you make a visit.

1 Blake Island State Park

This trail is great for beginners and is located just outside Seattle. The total distance of the trail is about 4 miles and takes a little under one hour to complete if you ride at a leisurely pace. This a great trail to start off on if you haven't done any mountain biking before, but more experienced riders may find it a little mundane. For directions click here.

2 Lake Silvia

This mountain bike trail is located near the town of Montesano. The great thing about this site is it actually consist of several different trails that very in difficulty so there is something for everyone. The trails very in difficulty and length but riders will find that most of them are a combination of single tracks and gravel roads. For directions click here.

3 High Bridge Park

This mountain bike trail is located nearest to the city of Spokane and is just off of I-90. There are a few trails to choose from in the relatively small park and it is a good place for beginner to intermediate skill levels. The trails here are especially fun during the dry part of the year because you can get some pretty good speed off of them. For directions click here.

4 Mt. St. Helens Wildlife Viewing Area/3100 road

This mountain bike route is mostly dirt road rather than a trail, but nevertheless had to be included on the list due to it's great scenic qualities. The difficulty of the trail is moderate and all together it's about 20 miles round trip to the mountain and back. It's best to go on this trail during the dry part of the year as it can be muddy during the rainy season. For directions click here.

5 Mt. Molly Loop

This mountain bike trail is located near the town of Olympia. The trail itself is moderate in difficulty, and involves some uphill climbing and a fast downhill segment. Overall the trail takes about 2 hours to complete and offers some spectacular views. For directions click here.

6 Camp Shepard Trail

This mountain bike trail is located near the town of Greenwater, and is a difficult trail to navigate. Due to steep climbs, roots, and many rocks this trail is best suited for advanced riders. The total distance of the track is 13 miles. Due to the dry weather in this region of Washington, riders should find the trail well intact. For directions click here.
