The Best Movies for a Girls Night In

April Toro
So, you and your girlfriends decide to stay in and have some good food, some good wine and a movie. What to watch? Here are my favorite movies that my friends and I always go crazy for and have a good time with!

1. Grease

Now, this is the original High School Musical, but for adults. My girlfriends and I always love to pretend we're the Pink Ladies, strutting our stuff and singing to the awesome tunes! When Sandy meets Danny one summer, sparks fly, but she thinks she has to go to Australia and say goodbye to her summer love. But, as fate has it, Sandy ends up staying and enrolls into Rydell High, and happens to run into Danny, who isn't the boy she thought he was! Now, didn't that happen to us all in high school at one point? It's a great movie to relive those glory years, and look cool while doing it!!!

2. Bride Wars

If you or any of your gal pals are married, this movie will definitely hit home. Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway are two best friends who have been planning their weddings since they were little girls, until one teeny error on the part of the wedding planner throws their friendship into a whirlwind. Lots of great laughs and OMG moments that will have you thinking back to your own wedding!

3. Twilight

Yes, a lot of teenage girls fell in love with Edward, the beautiful vampire in Stephenie Meyer's trendy book "Twilight". But it's also a movie us grown-ups will enjoy. It's romantic, edgy and just the right amount of suspense and thrills to keep you "oohing" and "aahing". Edward, the vampire, falls in love with the human Bella. But torn between his desire for her and his desire for her blood, it makes it harder for Bella to resist him. With a beautiful and haunting soundtrack, this is definitely a good movie to make you swoon.

4. Gladiator

Hey, we girls like action too! And Russel Crowe as the gladiator Maximus keeps us on the edge of our seat! When Maximus' family is murdered and he is enslaved to fight for the pleasure of the King, played wonderously by Joaquin Phoenix, he stands up for Rome and vows to bring the King down. It's full of action, and yet its a touching bittersweet movie that is sure to get you searching for the Kleenex.

5. Mama Mia

Another great musical for a night in! This movie will get you and your girlfriends to pull out the old bell bottoms and dance the night away to the great tunes of Abba, sung by the cast that includes the always beautiful Meryl Streep and the dashing Pierce Bronsan (who sings like a dream!). When a girl finds out she has 3 potential fathers, she embarks on a musical journey to find them all and find the truth of her past! A great uplifting story and awesome soundtrack, this one will definitely make you feel like a Dancing Queen!
