John Ritter was the lucky guy rooming with two chicks in the television show "Three's Company." However, he was not merely a fixture on the small screen, he also did work in the world of feature film. A man who oozed with kind personality his death was quite the tragedy when looking at his body of work and what roles he may have been able to nab had he not passed.
5. "Bride Of Chucky" - A"bad" movie that has landed on a "good" list, but "Bride Of Chucky" is the right type of bad movie; so bad it is good. John Ritter plays some law enforcement in this movie as Chief Warren Kincaid, but he is not skilled enough to defeat the love of two serial killer dolls.
4. "Stay Tuned" - Roy Knable is the name of John Ritter's character in this movie about a couple who are sucked into their television and have to survive weird television show after television show. I loved this movie as a kid, but am not sure how it holds up now that I am an adult. The premise, however, is awesome in its fun simplicity and I could imagine this as a remake opportunity for some Hollywood studio looking to tap into some random early 90s nostalgia.
3. "Sling Blade" - John Ritter played the character named Vaughan Cunningham in the movie "Sling Blade." Vaughan was the homosexual manager at the store where the lead boy's mother worked, and his nature was to be kind and compassionate. His good nature makes him a perfect target for the hatred bottled up and leaking out of the Dwight Yokum character, however
2. "Bad Santa" - This Billy Bob Thornton led movie is hilarious and once again, like in "Sling Blade," John Ritter got a part. Ritter played the character of Bob Chipeska in this tale of a profane, crook of a Santa, changing his ways somewhat when he encounters a young boy in need of a father figure.
1. "Problem Child" - "Problem Child" is the first movie I think of when I think of John Ritter as a movie actor. The second movie I think of him in is "Memento," but he is not even in that movie, that's just confusing him with Joe Pantoliano. In "Problem Child" John Ritter plays the new father to the little devil of a trouble-maker child and the results are quirky and funny. As a kid I was a big fan of this movie and its sequel and watching it once again before creating this list I was pleased to find it holds up in a very goofy way.
