There are several natural ways of curing heat exhaustion. The best way is prevention, second is to head to the hospital. If it will be a long wait to the hospital then take action quickly. A few measures to try are to remove from the heat and one or more of the following: cool water, apple cider vinegar, potassium and magnesium and a little tea.
Prevention
The best cure is prevention. Heat exhaustion can affect anyone, but the very young and the very old are at a higher risk. Children are smaller making it harder to stay cool and seniors often have slower systems. Keep this in mind as you make plans for a family outing. Watch the weather and change your plans if it will be too hot. Another option is to have your activities close to shade or an air-conditioned building. Schedule frequent breaks into the shade. A red face may just be from great exercise but in the heat have everyone sit down and cool off. If you see red or flushed skin, absence of sweating, rapid pulse, difficulty breathing, dizziness, confusion or fainting keep this person in a cool place.
After They are in a Cool Place Try One or More of these Options
Cool Water
Have the victim drink cool, not cold water. Cold water will shock the system. You may also use a wet sheet and wrap their naked body in it. This will often bring the body temperature down quickly. You may also use a wet wash cloth. If you are using a wet washcloth then make sure to rewet the cloth often to keep it cool. Another option may be a shower or if the victim is awake a bath is excellent.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Drinking cold water alone will help your body a little, but helping it out by adding electrolytes and minerals will speed recovery time. You can get these from apple cider vinegar in water. Just add a teaspoon to water. Keep drink the apple cider vinegar for as long as you can. It has other benefits as well so you can just drink it everyday.
Add Potassium and Magnesium
When you sweat you not only loose water you loose potassium and magnesium. After excessive sweating it is important to replace both. Some options to restore the balance are Gatorade, Pedialyte, natural apple cider vinegar, leafy vegetables, bananas, whole grains, and nuts. Which ever you choose be sure that you also drink plenty of water.
Raspberry Tea and Peppermint
Both Raspberry tea and peppermint have a natural cooling effect on the body. Drink these in a tea may help to speed up the cooling process. You may also try Essential oils like spearmint and peppermint. They can also lower the bodies temperature.
Which ever natural cure that you try be sure to take precaution and respect the heat. Peppermint can cool and water can replenish the body but prevention is always the best cure.
