Greg Oden
Greg Oden is quite simply the best center to come into the NBA in quite some time. With his 7'2 frame he has the potential to be a superstar in this league. Unfortunately we will have to wait another season to see what Mr. Oden will do. His knee surgery will require him to miss this NBA season. This could however work out great for Oden and the Trail-Blazers. Oden will have time to work in the weight room and build some much needed muscle. His youth was quite obvious in the Final Four last year and he will have an additional year to prepare for the NBA game. Greg won't be this years rookie of the year, but he will undoubtedly be the best new player to hit the hardwood in next year's incoming class.
Kevin Durant
Forget what the 'experts' have said about his lack of strength in the weight room. Kevin Durant is a baller. He can flat out play the game. As a freshman at Texas he lit up opponents, shooting from the outside and scoring on the inside. He is a unique combination of a player who is tall, can shoot the rock, and also handle the basketball. Durant will have plenty of time to get bigger and when he does look out. He will be a dominant scorer in the NBA.
Brandon Wright
Don't sleep on Brandon Wright. He may be one of the best players in the NBA soon. He only had a year to play at the University of North Carolina. In just that one year, Wright was a solid scorer for the Tar heels and a super shot blocker. He has a nice post up game. His long arms and defensive abilities remind many of another former Tar-Heel, Sam Perkins. Wright will have to get bigger as well. He will also have to work on his free-throw shooting. Nevertheless, he should be a super player in the NBA.
Corey Brewer
Corey Brewer was a big part of the reason the Florida Gators won back-to-back national championships. Brewer's ability to shoot the outside shot and create his own shot off the dribble, makes him the best of the Gators to come into the NBA this year. With his size he will be able to post up smaller guards in the NBA. The Timber wolves truly got a steal by drafting Corey. Look for him to surprise many this year.
Arron Afflalo
Although he was unable to win a national championship, Afflalo's back-to-back Final Four appearances are very impressive. Afflalo is a guy who can knock down the outside shot and can create his own shot. He has the ability to take over a game. Last year there were a number of games that he simply put the Bruins on his back and carried them. He should fit in great with the Detroit Pistons. Look for Afflalo to be a great player this year.
Acie Law IV
Although he is lacking in size, Acie Law should be a great point guard in the NBA. Reminiscent of Allen Iverson, he is super quick and can make the outside shot. His play at Texas A&M is the reason the Aggies had the sauces they had last year. Look for Law to make a big impact this year as he tries to help the struggling Atlanta Hawks.
