The best neighborhood bars in Manhattan fuel good times for all who enter the premises, regardless of whether or not the guest is a local. Locals feel comfortable while tourists get an authentic experience. Fun times, tasty drinks and reasonable prices contribute to landing these establishments onto the list of the best neighborhood bars in Manhattan.

Hogs and Heifers

Hogs and Heifers may be a chain bar with locations all over the country, but it still makes the list of one of the best neighborhood bars in Manhattan. Similar to the Coyote Ugly bartenders, the staff at Hogs and Heifers were skimpy clothing, dance and serve drinks using flashy hand movements. Unlike the copycat Coyote Ugly, Hogs and Heifers is spacious enough to allow guests to have a good time. In fact, many female guests have such a good time that they leave their bras behind, all of which are displayed above the bar. For a one-of-a-kind experience in a true neighborhood bar in Manhattan, visit Hogs and Heifers in the heart of the Village.

Off the Wagon

As if the cheap drinks and great bar food aren't enough of a reason for Off the Wagon to be one of the best neighborhood bars in Manhattan, this local establishment of choice for local New York University Students is also extremely fun. Always crowded and full of personality, Off the Wagon provides a perfect location to have a great time. Whether plans to watch a sports game or rock out to some tunes are part of the agenda, Off the Wagon is not for anyone searching for a quiet neighborhood bar in Manhattan.

Pig n' Whistle

Finding the best neighborhood bar in Manhattan proves to be difficult when visiting the busy Times Square area of the city. Many bars are trendy, overpopulated with tourists and lack that authentic neighborhood bar feel. The Pig n' Whistle defies all predetermined notions about drinking in Times Square, offering the best neighborhood bar in Manhattan's busiest region. In addition to the great drink menu, the Irish pub offers classic bar food. Thanks to the staff at the Pig n' Whistle, even people visiting from out of town feel like a part of a real neighborhood bar in Manhattan.

Catching up because of AC's glitch!

When I lived in NYC, neighborhood bars were like homes away from home. If I wanted to visit some friends, I knew they'd be at "their" bars at certain times. I have never experienced that anywhere else.

Nice reviews. We didn't have time to visit any bars in Manhattan, but we did find a great Indian Restaurant, Spice Fusion off Time Square.
