The Best Night Life in Honolulu

Alyssa Branen
Honolulu, Hawaii is filled to the brim with a bustling night life. Whether it is just dinner and drinks or a flashy dance club you are looking for, Honolulu has it. Oahu is an extremely popular tourist vacationing spot, as it has the beaches, Waikiki, tons of shopping and of course, Pearl Harbor. The following is a list of the hot spots to visit when at night, starting with the restaurants and ending with the clubs.

The Shorebird Restaurant, located in the Outrigger Reef hotel in downtown Waikiki. This restaurant is right on the beach and is a perfect spot for that romantic dinner, or just a relaxed and casual dining experience.. That is what is great about The Shorebird. You can dress up if you want to, or just come in a Hawaiian shirt and a pair of shorts. The atmosphere works both ways. There is live music, and a giant grill where you grill your own fresh meats, with chefs near bye to assist you if you need the help. Two thumbs up for The Shorebird! Slightly pricey, but well worth it!

The Brew Moon, located at 1200 Ala Moana Blvd, in the Ward Centre, is a laid back, semi-fancy dining experience. Live music plays in the background as you munch on your bread basket selections which range from cornbread to wheat bread to an interesting purple bread. (All of which are delicious.)The menu consists of some great food, such as Teriyaki steak over Jasmin rice, an excellent Ahi Poke sampler and some great seafood and burgers. Don't forget to sample some of the many home brewed beers. Price is slightly high, but decent for the quality of food. The food, by the way is served on really nice square plates.

Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant. This microbrewery is a very popular hot spot, due to the flavorful variety's of beer, the great food and the fact that it is located overlooking the harbor. At night there is even a stage for live music. Decently priced, and you are able to sample the beers so you can decide which one to purchase.

Now onto the bars and clubs. First off, is my husbands favorite little hole in the wall. Arnold's. Located in downtown Waikiki, I personally think this place is literally, a hole in the wall. It's a guys guy bar. No frills. Beer and stools pretty much. For some reason, it seems pretty popular with the locals.

If you are looking for an Irish Pub, Kelly O'Neils is a great choice. Celtic music blaring loudly, people tossing back pints of Guinness.

The Pipeline Café and Sports bar is an extremely popular nightspot for young people. Located at 805 Pohukaina St, in Honolulu, The Pipelines' Inexpensive drinks, dancing, Djs, a big dance floor and big TV screens showing sports events are what makes it the hot spot that it is. Sometimes there are events and concerts shown here. There are several VIP rooms for small groups to chill out in.

The Blue Tropics is a great casual club in Waikiki. No dress shoes required, a live spider monkey behind the bar, small dance floor and decently priced drinks. (For Hawaii anyway.)

The Zanzabar, also in Waikiki is more of a dressy club.Dress shoes and nice clothes are required to get into this hot spot. Watch out, this spot is a bit on the pricey side.

R&B's, located off of the Sand Island access road, is a small little hole in the wall joint. Again, my husband loves this little bar. Decently priced beer, stools and booths, pool tables and if you are lucky, live music.
