The Palm d'Or, oh, what is it? In English, Palm d'Or translates to Golden Palm, and is the highest award to competing films at the Cannes Film Festival. This was between 1955-1963, as well as 1975 up to the present. The present Palm d'Or is made of 24-carat gold, and is hand cast into a wax mold. Then, it is attached to a cushion of a single piece of cut crystal. Presently, it is presented in a case of blue Morocco leather.
