Yes, the title said it, "So far." This is because I intend to throw her a better party next year. This is a true story of how I gave my now 5 year-old daughter the best present and party any parent can give. January 7, 2004, was the most wonderful day of my life. My soulmate, (I thought), just gave birth to a child that was a blessing to my big family. My mother always wanted to have a Grandchild, and she knew Jessica was on her way, but she passed away months before jessica was born. She got her wish, but my mother died, leaving me with the only biological Granddaughter to raise with my lady.

From the beginning of her life, and especially the beginning of 2008, I knew that my daughter didn't have the things I wanted to give her, but due to the economy, my investments were not paying off and my soulmate was venturing into things other than a family life. I always wanted to give my family the best, but something was holding me back. Too many things were going on in the household, and I was seeing that, although families usually come together In a time of crisis, (namely the economy) , my soulmate, the woman I wanted to marry and share my life with, told me to get out of the apartment, just out of the blue. With Thanksgiving around the corner, and Christmas, as well as my only daughter's birthday coming up in two weeks after that, I was truely devastated. I left with only the clothes on my back, $20.00, and a van that just recently quit on me. My world just flipped.

Knowing that I had nowhere to go, she watched me stay inside a building with no electricity for the first 5 days. I was not asked to come back, and I knew it being 15 degrees outside, I was forced to move in with my brother on the other side of town. Now I had to leave my Daughter behind with a mom that had intentions at the time i had no clue of.

I dropped my investments. That was my first move to get my life back and to throw my daughter the biggest birthday party ever. As soon as I moved into my brother's house, I took on one of the worse roofing jobs ever. I had to tear off a 6-layer roof in conditions that would've killed an ordinary man. Winds blew 45 miles an hour and the temperature was always at a freezing state. I installed into my brain that my daughter was going to have a party, no matter what., so as soon as I finished the job, then waited three days in an abandoned building just to collect my pay. I went and found the most beautiful house that was for rent. It was a three-bedroom house and now my Daughter has her own bedroom.

I took the biggest room in this house and decided this was going to be where her party was established. The room is enormous, measuring 12'x25" and was brand new. I borrowed a table and chairs that would sit 15 or more people easily, and set it in the middle of this room. I borrowed another table and made this into where the drinks, plates, knives, forks, and radio was gonna be put.

My Daughter's favorite color is Blue, so I took the rest of my money, practically every dime, and bought her everything Blue. Everything from her birthday cake, to her ice cream, (which, by the way, was called birthday bash, ironic, isn't it), was Blue. Her balloons, streamers, napkins, plates, and even the table cloth was blue. Mom, in no way, participated in any of this, installing hate and Isolation to me, and since my Daughter reminded her of me, I was really into making sure that this house I just got, was going to be introduced to my daughter as her first birthday present. She had to know she was loved tremendously.

The day of the party was all planned out except a crisis that came up on this day. You see, since the day I was asked to leave, I took upon myself to re-introduce my Father into my life, so I also re-introduced my daughter into his life as well. He hasn't seen her since the day she was born. I never seen my Dad so happy until I brought jessica over his house, so when my van broke down the next day, he was more than happy to drive me around, so i could pick up the cake and presents. Alot of people showed up, except for her mom. After asking everyone not to bring up our recent separation, alot of my friends and family didn't really want hewr there. As i proceeded to ';tell Jessica's Mom to just roll with the flow, she decided not to invite herself or her son. Will, A great friend of mine, picked up the baby, then brought her into the house and BOOM!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSICA!

I never seen this baby Illuminate so much. Not only did she get just about everything I needed to help me raise her, she got more toys then what she had over at the apartment. There were so many kids running around, It looked like a babysitter service, and the adults participated just as much as the help. Now, I have a house, a 5 year-old in split custody, and a cat, 9Jessica's first pet), that loves Jessica well. I beat the odds her mom threw at me, and gave this baby something i always wanted too...

A home.
