The Best Place on Earth

Justin Tout
A two hour drive through long winding roads. Then a sense of relief when I get there. The burst of fresh air as I step out of the cramped car. The chirping of all kinds of bugs. I walk through the door, feel the cold air and hear everyone as they greet me. I smell that night's dinner. I make my way back through the game room after dinner and play pool, air hockey and dome hockey. Then I make my way to the dark bedroom in the corner called the bat cave.

I wake up the next day to the smell of pancakes and bacon. I open the door and I am blinded by the bright room. I eat toast and bacon and then head outside to the lake. I run down a steep gravel hill. I put on my life vest and jump into the refreshing lake. I hear a radio, my uncles talking, and horseshoes clanging. I see my dogs paddling out to me.

My cousin and I are now blowing up a raft to go tubing. We then attach it to the boat and head out with my grandpa. We start in the cool water at the back the make our way up as It gets faster. We yell with excitement. I stand up, almost fall off, but my cousin grabs me and pulls me back up. We both then stand up and jump, splash. The boat picks us up and we repeat it several times.

After dinner the second night my cousin and I go on a ride in the gator. We drive through the winding hills up and down and up and down. Waving to the cars that drive past, and there uncaring that two teenagers are driving a gator around. We pull back into the driveway, park the gator where it was and continue inside where tones of little cousins are playing all kinds of different games. That night we all watched a movie. Then I went back to bed ready to wake up and do it all again.
