The Best Place to Rent a Surf Board in Haleiwa

WRV and Surf & Sea

If you want to mess around and learn how to surf in Haleiwa, there a couple of places from which you can rent a surfboard. There are a lot of different reasons you should rent from a shop instead of renting one at one of the beaches in Hawaii. If you rent them at the beach, you are paying for convenience. They charge upwards of $10 per hour. You figure you will be in the water for at least a few hours and that can add up pretty quickly. If you rent them from one of the local shops, you can get one for the day for around $40 or so.

The first place you can check out is Surf and Sea. This is located towards the end of Haleiwa town and is a bit on the pricier side. The one draw back is the parking lot is small so you may have to park further down and walk a bit farther. When you do rent a board be sure to get the advice of the person working there. Tell them how much you weigh and how tall you are so that they can give you a board or make a recommendation on a board that will suit you well. Also make sure that your vehicle can accommodate the board in case you plan on driving and venturing to another beach further away from the shop.

The other place I would recommend is Wave Riding Vehicles or as many know it WRV. WRV is located in the middle of Haleiwa next to McDonald's. It is a smaller cozier shop that reminds me of the smaller shops in Cocoa Beach. The guys there are super friendly and they close pretty late, which is perfect for those spending a bit too much time in the water. When you rent a board there, you may be able to strike a deal with them. I am not promising anything, but they are pretty nice and reasonable to work with. Again, get their advice on what size board you should use. Here is the kicker - if you decide that you want to purchase the board you can do so and they will even knock the fee you have already paid for the rental, off of the purchase price.

If you will be in town for a while you might as well do the daily board rentals, if you plan on doing your fair share of surfing, which I hope you will as Haleiwa is noted for its awesome waves. If you are in Haleiwa, be sure to check out Surf and Sea or WRV for the ultimate surfing experience.

I've also ordered a surfboard online in the past from http://www.HawaiiSurfboardRentals.com ,.There rates were reasonably low and they deliver surfboards to the entire North Shore Haleiwa for free.
