The Best Place to Ski in Northern Utah for Beginners

One of the best, if not THE best, places for beginning skiers to ski in northern Utah is Nordic Valley, located in Eden, Utah. Nordic Valley, in Eden, Utah is located just east of Ogden, Utah (approximately 30 miles from Salt Lake City, capitol of Utah). Nordic Valley offers the best prices, beginning tracks and courses, ski lessons and ski staff instructors, hours and availability of all other ski resorts.

With prices starting at just $16 for Adults, and $5 for seniors and $5 for children you can ski an entire day at Nordic Valley opposed to the hundreds of dollars it could cost you to ski only half days at other places in northern Utah. Nordic Valley opens at 9 am and closes at 4 pm. You can also receive half-day specials and prices ranging from five to thirteen dollars if you arrive after 12:30 pm, during the regular ski season.

With in a few blocks of the Nordic Valley ski resort, you can stay and lodge at several of the local inns including Snowberry Inn, Wolf Creek Lodge, (both ranging from $70 plus nightly) etc. Or if you prefer to stay in the city, you can travel south 15 minutes and stay in beautiful Ogden, home of prestigious college Weber State University, with hotels and motels ranging from $25 plus nightly.

Nordic Valley is the best beginning ski resort not only for its easy availability, and low prices, but also because they have on-staff instructors for free willing to teach you, as well as 3 courses specifically designed as "bunny hops" or beginners.

If you don't own a pair of skis you can rent and/or purchase skis from several locations in the Ogden valley including Big 5 sports located on 40^th and Wall Avenue, Canyon Sports located on 705 West Riverdale Road, or Alpine Sports on 1165 Patterson Street. Each of these locations has skis for purchase and rental, as well as the latest and most applicable ski wear attire, snow wear boots, face and eye protectors, hand and feet warmers, etc. In addition, actually located on resort, Diamond Peak Ski & Sport on 2429 North Highway 162 also has skis for purchase or rental options available.

Nordic Valley's season generally begins to open around or during mid-December and tends to run through the end of March. Nordic Valley ski resort has an average annual snow fall of 300 plus inches.
