The Best Places to Buy Blue Christmas Decorations and Ornaments

Kay Whittenhauer
I know first-hand where to buy blue Christmas tree decorations and ornaments. But before I tell you, I want to tell you why I know, so bear with me as I walk down memory lane.

For years, I thought I had an absolutely gorgeous Christmas tree. It was impeccably trimmed in elegant gold and ivory, set off by white lights and gold and ivory angels. No others colors- I thought it was very sophisticated looking. It looked like it came out of a magazine. (OK, I copied it from a magazine, but that didn't take away from its beauty.) I prided myself on having a Christmas tree that took visitors' breath away.

As my son got older, it became important to him that his voice be heard. So when he said that our Christmas tree was "boring" (how dare he!?), I decided to let him take the lead on decorating it.

"We'll need a theme," I told him.

As if anticipating the question, he promptly answered, "Blue!"

Blue? Wow! Talk about a departure! Well, hey, if it's blue he wants; then it's blue he'll get! Thus begun my journey into finding blue Christmas tree decorations and ornaments. So without further ado, here are the best places to buy blue Christmas decorations and ornaments:

Big Lots. The year that my son decided that we needed to change the theme of our Christmas tree, Big Lots was my first stop. (Actually, Big Lots is always my first stop for Christmas decorations.) I picked up blue Christmas, lights, blue ornaments, and blue ribbon there. And also some silver decorations and ornaments- silver is a nice accent color with blue.

For those of you who don't know, Big Lots is a retailer that specializes in closeout deals. They have quality brand-name merchandise at rock-bottom prices. For stuff like Christmas decorations, it's always a good idea to check Big Lots first. I wouldn't bother with their website- most of their deals are in-store only. Click here for the Big Lots store locater.

Wegman's. Wegman's is a regional upscale grocery store chain. Even though they're only in Western New York and a couple of mid-Atlantic states, I have to mention them because I've found some of the most beautiful blue Christmas ornaments there! The prices were reasonable as far as nice Christmas ornaments go. Check out the Wegman's website here or look in the seasonal department of your local grocery store for blue Christmas tree decorations.

Walmart/KMart. Yes, I know they're two different places, but are they really all that different? Seriously, it's nice to be able to load your Christmas tree up, but that can get pricey. So if you're just starting out, it makes sense to get a lot of the basic ornaments at discount prices.

The Christmas People. With a name like The Christmas People, you know there's going to be some selection here! The ornaments here are fancier and pricier than at discount stores. This is where you would go to buy special or keepsake blue Christmas tree ornaments. Visit their website here.

Lovely Things: Blue Christmas. The name says it all here! This website has absolutely gorgeous blue Christmas decorations and ornaments. Lovely Things is a company in the UK, and I can honestly say that I've never seen any of these items in the US. If you'd like to see some really pretty blue Christmas ornaments, click here.

Now that I've shared these places with you, I wouldn't mind learning about more! If you know of places to buy blue Christmas decorations and ornaments, please let me know in the comment section below

Love Christmas ornaments and each year buy at least two new ones to add to the collections. A blue theme does sound interesting.

As a child, we grew up with blue Xmas decorations and outside lights, because that is what my Mom liked. When I started my own family, my Xmas tree would have all white lights and the outdoor lights white or multi-colored...never all blue.

I must confess that every time I see all Xmas blue - a smile comes to my face, because it looks so pretty, peaceful and reminds me of home. Thanks for writing this great article. I think I'll make some Xmas decoration changes this year!
