The Best Places to Buy Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The final installment of JK Rowling's phenomenal best selling Harry Potter series is scheduled to be sold at bookstores on Saturday, July 21. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will chronicle Harry Potter's final year at Hogwarts and complete the series. The biggest decision facing Harry Potter fans right now is not what will happen to Harry Potter or even Voldemort, but Where am I going to get my copy of Book 7????

While the list price for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is $34.99, most retailers offer the book at a significant discount, especially if the book is preordered or ordered online.

Our local Barnes and Noble is advertising Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at a special price of $20.99 if it is preordered. Barnes and Noble members may receive an additional discount. Online the members price is listed at $18.99. Many Barnes and Noble Booksellers host a midnight party where individuals who have preordered the novel can pick up their book to take home and read through the night. Borders and other bookstores also have similar deals with midnight pick-ups.

If arriving at the bookstore at midnight does not fit your schedule or if you don't want to wait in line to pick up your copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, you may want to consider ordering your copy online and waiting for UPS or FedEx to drop the book off at your home.

Amazon.com is selling Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for $17.99. The box set of books 1-7 is also available at Amazon.com for preorder at $117.00, 48% off of the list price. The paperback Braille version is available at amazon.com for $23.09. Amazon.com offers free shipping for orders over $25.

Walmart.com is offering Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for the lowest price that I have seen so far. At $17.87 with just 97 cents for shipping, it is even cheaper than purchasing it at the store and picking it up. The book is guaranteed to arrive at your home on the 21st.

If your fail to preorder your copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, you will be forced to face the crowds Saturday morning to find your copy. My best suggestion is to find a retailer that sells books, but not exclusively, to purchase your copy. My grandma purchased a copy of Book 5 in the Harry Potter series at Costco the day after it came out, only to find out from her friends that all of the local bookstores, Wal-Mart, and Target had all sold out. She said that there was an entire pallet stacked high with copies of the book.
