The solution to this cheap beer headache is to upgrade your beer choice to an artisanal, micro brewed beer. In Buenos Aires Antares is the most widely know and available artisanal, micro brewed beer. Thankfully, Antares comes in a delicious variety of brown cloudy colors to please your distinctive palate. Unfortunately, these micro breweds beers are not available everywhere. Luckily you can find them at the San Telmo local foreigner expat bars, Gibraltar and the Red Door (aka in Spanish, Puerta Roja).
Gibraltar is a popular expat foreigner bar in San Telmo, Buenos Aires that serves delicious Antares micro brewed beer as well as some other varieties of foreign beer you won't find at most other bars in San Telmo, or any place else in Buenos Aires for that matter. Gibraltar offers a pub like atmosphere, billiards and an outdoor patio. In addition to their mouth-watering artisanal micro brewed beer selection, Gibraltar also offers a variety of familiar snacks and food. The menu at Gibraltar in San Telmo includes: fish and chips, hamburgers and other warm sandwiches, a daily curry, steak fries with a variety of toppings and dessert (vegetarian food is available). Gibraltar is located in San Telmo and is one of the few places where you can begin partying early, 8 o'clock. ADDRESS: PerĂº 895 - San Telmo, Buenos Aires.Telephone: 4342 7514.
Another popular foreigner expat hot spot in San Telmois the Red Door. This bar also offers a variety of Antares micro brewed artisanal beers alongside the cheap ones. The Red Door in San Telmo offers a very limited but delicious and interesting food menu. The Red Door in San Telmo begins to get pleasantly crowded at around 11 o'clock. ADDRESS: next to the Tango Hostel at 680 Piedras, San Telmo. There is no sign, but just look for the red door.
