The Best Places to Eat Breakfast in Winter Park, Colorado

Whether you are going day hiking, on a mountain motorcycle ride, or a day out on the ski slopes, breakfast provides the fuel that gets the day started. Locals in Winter Park, CO know there are a few places that a great breakfast can always be found in town. A few breakfast places can be found by the packed dining patio in summer, in winter however they are a little harder to find.

If you find yourself in need of a great breakfast place in Winter Park, CO where should you go? Here are some of my favorite breakfast places in summer and winter. Their menus will please any palate.

Mountain Rose Café

The Mountain Rose Café is easy to spot in summer by its packed outdoor dining patio and the row of Harleys parked out front along Highway 40. The Mountain Rose is well known for its filling breakfasts and casual dining atmosphere. All items are homemade including the highly recommended breads and toasted granola.

Popular breakfast favorites are Grandma's Buttermilk Griddlecakes, the Biscuits and Gravy, and their breakfast sandwiches. Those with a craving for a good breakfast burrito should order the Burrito El Yum-O smothered with pork green chile. It's really hard to go wrong with any food items on their menu.

The Mountain Rose is vegetarian friendly and all items on the menu are available for takeout. The Mountain Rose has a full-service bar for patrons and does cater off-site events.

The coffee can be a little weak so if you like tasty coffee, stop off at Rocky Mountain Roastery for takeout before wandering into the Mountain Rose.

Carver's Bakery

Carver's has been a Winter Park staple for 30 years. It is hard to find but, once found, it's hard to leave. Hidden behind Cooper Creek Square, it provides a cozy casual dining atmosphere for those looking for a relaxing breakfast. You may however have to wait to get a table, as the place can be very busy. During summer, I recommend heading straight for the fenced in outside patio in back of the bakery.

Once seated, you'll be quickly presented with a menu. Order some coffee and study the menu. It's extensive and everything is excellent. If you are hungry, don't worry; Carver's serves large portions. It's a great dining value.

The Belgian waffles are yummy while the omelets are huge and filling. The Eggs Benedict are highly recommended too. If you have room, get some cinnamon rolls.

The service is prompt and friendly but it helped that our server was a friend of a friend. Coffee refills always came promptly with cream and sugar on the side. It's great coffee too.

Cosmic Dog Mexican Grill

Need a breakfast burrito fast, fresh, and to go? Winter Park locals have a new favorite in town. The Cosmic Dog Mexican Grill began offering breakfast burritos in the fall of 2009. They are now the place to get a giant tasty breakfast burrito in Winter Park. The folks over in Granby are jealous.
