Surprisingly, you were right. The problem is that there are very few of them. Going on ahead into a oil booming town called Oil City, you will notice that there is just one place that you can eat. It will be on your left and you will miss it if you are not looking for it. The little pizza place doesn't look much like a pizza place. I have never tried their pizza, but I do know that the burgers are good. I ate there once. Eat there if you just can't drive another four miles to Vivian.
Well, make that about three and a half. I say this because there is a truck stop called the Relay Station that is location between Oil City and Vivian. It will be on your left as well. This is probably the nicest sit in restaurant in (or slightly out of) town. They have good Sunday buffets and I recommend the club sandwich, as well as the BLT. I do not recommend the steaks at all.
Going further into town, there is a new Mexican restaurant located in the only motel in town, called Chavos. I have yet to try it but it is always busy. Being busy is a good sign for a restaurant. Keep going into town and all of the eateries will be on your left. After Chavos and once you have made that slight curve around the car dealership, you will see Outlaw's BBQ.
This is a good place to eat. They have some of the best BBQ ever. They also serve fried fish and chicken as well. All the beef is slow grilled and smoked in the outside smoker. They have a variety of sides and fries. A kid's menu is available.
A little further down, you will notice our newest restaurant addition called Grumpy's. I haven't eaten there but I hear it is like a deli or cafe. They are always busy as well and I am anxious to try them out one day. There is Sonic and past Walmart, you will see a DQ. I love Sonic, but being a franchise, many of you have probably been there. If you are from up north, you may have never eaten at Dairy Queen (DQ). The one in Vivian is okay but if you are planning on going through Atlanta, Tx. (which is about 20 miles north of Vivian) then go there instead. All of their portions are a whole lot bigger.
Pizza Hut is next. Unfortunately, they no longer have the Tuesday night buffet anymore (boo). However if you want to eat a good buffet, go during lunch hours. Otherwise make your way up to the tobacco store where they have the best pizza for the price. This is good for families on a budget, that is if you don't mind going into a tobacco exclusive store.
Before the pizza shop, you may like Subway better. I love Subway's terriyaki chicken sandwich and they are also offering a foot long for $5. These are the best and most are listed. If you want to continue heading north, you will come to this tiny town called Rodessa. There is one store there and they have the best homemade lunches around. Being in the middle of nowhere, the prices are good as well.
If not, continue north into a bigger city called Atlanta, Tx. and Queen City, Tx. where there is a wide variety of eateries. Of course if you are heading south on Highway 1, you will come through Atlanta first. Happy eating!

Yep I forgot Rascals and I have been there once. They wanted too much for what we got. It has been about 3 years or so that I went there. They are still open though, so that is a good sign.
There is also Rascals, never been there.
I forgot the China Wok - they are good, but a little pricey - I recommend the one in Atlanta where there is a buffet all day and more to choose including crab legs. Add a Comment | Message this Source
