Recycled, Organic Jewelry

When trying to stick to buying only environmentally friendly products, it can be hard to do when it comes to jewelry. However, there are many beautiful handcrafted pieces of jewelry made from recycled materials. You can also find one of a kind used vintage pieces. You'll find searching for eco-friendly jewelry to be a wonderful experience as you find many creative and unique pieces of jewelry to adorn yourself with. This is a list of my favorite places to shop for eco-friendly jewelry online.

greenKarat - One of the goals of greenKarat is to end the mining of gold. All jewelry is made from recycled gold - gold that has already been mined. You can purchase wedding and engagement rings, shop for gold jewelry and even trade in your gold to be recycled for store credit, or donate it.

Alex and Ani - Jewelry made from recycled metals. Most pieces are symbolic and spiritual in nature. Find many choices of wire bangles, necklaces earrings and ear cuffs. Visit their "Bangle Bar" and create your own bangle bracelet virtually by dragging selections onto the display tube and order right online. ($28 and up)

Moonrise Jewelry - All jewelry found on this site is handmade in Virginia from organic/recycled materials. As you click on each piece, you'll be told exactly where the materials come from to make it. What I love about Moonrise Jewelry is there's something for everyone. ($14 and up)

Julia Failey - Jewelry made from reclaimed silver. Julia Failey jewelry is alloyed with tin making it resistant to tarnish. Browse a collection of delicate looking jewelry that is still of high quality. You'll find many matching collections including butterfly, dragonfly, roses and spiderwebs. In addition to an online store, there are also stores in Indianapolis, Denver and Chicago. ($55 and up)

Mollie Dash - Shop many exquisite limited edition and one-of-a-kind pieces handmade. Check the site often as pieces change frequently. All jewelry made by Mollie Dash is from materials found from several sources including yard sales and thrift stores giving the jewelry an authentic/vintage feel. Browse earrings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches and men's jewelry. ($24 and up)

Love this topic. I like to take apart jewelry from garage sales or thrift shops and re-purpose them.
