The Best Places for Writers and Artists to Vacation for a Spring Break

Yona Gold
For both artist and writers, spring break destinations must be inspiring. Both of these creators require that the surroundings in which they vacation be conducive to being able to concentrate on the task at hand. This normally means locales that don't have a lot of people, making tons of noise. Thus, one is less likely to see those that write, paint, draw, or sketch hanging out in South Beach during spring break.

Even writers like Stephen King, who traveled to an area adjacent to Estes Park, Colorado for a stay at the Stanley Hotel, and was inspired to write the horror novel, "The Shining", did so in a scenic locale. The same goes for any other creator. With this in mind, great vacation locations include mountain resorts, lake houses, secluded beaches, local campgrounds, and Paris, France.

Mountain Resorts

Mountain resorts tend to make for great vacation destinations, simply for the scenery. Many times a writer or artist is able to take a look at nature and the things that are going on around them and discover new ideas that would have never come to fruition in their normal, creative setting. These locations are nice when there is snow on the ground, but just as enjoyable with natural greenery on display.

Lake Houses

Lakes houses are great Spring Break destinations for writers and artists. Lake houses also offer vacationers the opportunity to "get away from it all" and focus on the simple things in life. Many times the sights and sounds of a small creek that empties in the river can inspire a writer to write one of the most intricate chapters in a soon-to-be epic novel.

Secluded Beaches

Beaches are well known to give an artist inspiration for a beautiful sketch of a newly married couple strolling along shores. Again, secluded beaches offer creators the opportunity to see tons of lush foliage and see different types of people that also choose to take a Spring Break to such locations.

Local Campgrounds

Normally artists and writers need the solitude and peach that getting away from the city or any area that brings about traffic, noise, and congestion. For writers and artists that are just starting out, money may not be prevalent. In such situations, it becomes necessary for these people going on Spring Break to do so in a more frugal nature. Campgrounds make a great option. Campgrounds offer multiple alternatives. You can rent cabins in some campgrounds or some people choose to rough it and use a tent for shelter. The other option is to rent a camper and go to a campground with a hookup for water and electricity. The latter option gives you all of the comforts of home.

Paris, France

As history goes, many an artist has been inspired by the streets of Paris. An artist or writer on Spring Break should be no different. It could be that it is the variety of people that inhabit the City of Lights or maybe it is the architecture and design and the buildings and streets of this city. Whatever it is, Paris provides such a wonderful atmosphere for those looking for inspiration and insight into their own personal creations.
