The Best Products for Dry, Rough Feet

Summer is fast approaching guys and dolls. So you know what that means, lots of bare tootsies will be seen poolside and at the beach. I don't know about you, but I want to make sure my dry, rough feet become supple, smooth feet before Memorial Day weekend. I don't have the money for frequent foot treatments at the spa but I did five products that work for me. So, I am going to give you five of the best products I've used for dry, rough feet.

Smooth Rough Feet First

The PedEgg Professional The Ultimate Foot File for $9.99 at Walgreens is the first step to making feet smooth. Not only does this product come with the foot shaver, it also includes emery pads to help smooth the bottom of your feet. After I soak and dry my feet, I use the shaver mainly on my heels. After I finish shaving, I use the emery pads to smooth the area. If you have dry, rough feet this product should be your first step to making them smooth.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid Helps Prevent Rough Feet

While the PedEgg is a good starting point, you will need preventative measures to ensure you don't need to use the shaver every other day. This is when I turn to an AHA treatment like True Blue Spa Spa-Strength Callus Treatment - Tough Love for $15.00 at Bath and Body Works. I use this only on the areas I get calluses like my heels and sides of my feet near the toes. The treatment slows down the development of calluses on my dry, rough feet keeping the smoother, longer.

Take Cracked Heel Seriously

Cracks in the skin are really cuts and can become infected causing you pain. Cracked heels can be very painful and the more pressure placed on the heel, the more pain you may feel. For some reason, I get cracks on the heel of my left foot and the side of my right foot. After I use the AHA treatment, apply a topical antiseptic/pain reliever like Foot Works Therapeutic Cracked Heel Relief Cream for $5.00 from Avon. I only apply this cream to the cracked areas. The cream helps to prevent the cracks from getting infected and they relieve the pain the cracks cause my dry, rough feet.

Relieve Foot Dryness with Rich Emollient Cream

My feet get very dry, especially during the winter months due to dry indoor heat. This dryness continues into the spring. To moisturize my dry feet I use Curel Deep Penetrating Foot Creme for $5.49 at Ulta. I use this cream both morning and night. I have to admit I love massaging this cream into my dry, rough feet and they feel so soft after rubbing it in. On really hot days, I like to put my feet in front of the fan after I use this cream to cool them off quickly

Moisture Socks Provide Optimal Hydration for Feet

I've read plenty of advice concerning dry, rough feet that advise to apply foot cream then wear socks. Unfortunately, for me, my socks would absorb the moisture and my feet would feel dry, hot and the cracks would begin to hurt again. Then I came across moisture gel socks from Bliss and saw they received great reviews but I could not part with $48.00 for socks, regardless of what they did. So, I stumbled upon Women's Terry Gel-Lined Moisturizing Socks for $19.99 from FootSmart. I could part with $20.00 and I am glad I did. These socks kept my feet moisturized overnight and they were so soft and smooth. I do have to warn you, be careful walking in these socks as your feet will slide a bit in them. I always put on my slippers to counter this sliding. You will need to buy a new pair after the gel lining wears thin, so buy two pair at a time.

There you have it. My five best products to combat dry, rough feet. If your feet do not require much work to make them summer-ready then pick the products you will need. I do recommend the PedEgg or an equivalent and the Curel for everyone to use. Making your feet summer-ready requires work. You will have to moisturize your feet every day and probably only shave or smooth once a week. As long as you stay on top of your foot care, you can eliminate dry, rough feet for good.
