When you order the P90X program on the company's Web site, you will be presented with several different items that the company thinks you should buy to supplement the program, including the P90X pull up bar. I purchased this pull up bar to supplement my P90X program, but have since realized that it was a mistake.
There is one fundamental thing that you need to realize about the P90X pull up bar that is not readily apparent from the advertisement before you decide on the right pull up bar for you. The P90X pull up bar requires you to screw two clamps into your wall with four screws. This will, of course, leave holes in your wall. I was renting a place for a couple of months that did not allow me to put holes in the wall, so it ended up being very frustrating not being able to do all of the workouts. The P90X workouts require a full commitment, so it was irritating making that commitment and still not being able to do the workouts.
There are pull up bars that do not require you to screw holes into your wall and that are just as supportive. The Iron Gym Extreme pull up bar is one such pull up bar that does not require a permanent installation and, therefore, does not damage your doors or walls. This pull up bar and others like it may leave a black residue on the top of your door from the constant friction between the door mount and the pull up bar, but this is not as big of a problem as holes in your wall or door. These types of pull up bars do require a door mount. These are in most homes now, but if your door does not have the traditional one inch mount, these pull up bars would not work for you.
Most people order P90X excited about the great results they are going to see. It is essential that you order a pull up bar that will work for you and your home so that you can do all the workouts and maximize your results from P90X.
