The Best Restaurants in Indianapolis!

Wendy Rose Gould
Whether you're visiting Indianapolis for a day, a few days, a few weeks or you're a current resident, check out this list of the best restaurants in Indianapolis. There's a little something for everyone on this list: for the young, old, snazzy, bar-crawlers, international cuisine enthusiasts and more!

For Great, Homemade Pizza:Jockamo Upper Crust Pizza in Irvington
5646 E Washington St., 46219; 317-356-6612

Ah, there's nothing like the scent of baked dough, savory tomato sauce and a plethora of cheeses mixing together in the air of a hoppin' pizzeria! Jockamo makes everything from scratch and offers up every gourmet pizza option under the sun! The staff is great, the atmosphere is relaxed, prices are low and the breadsticks are to-die-for! Try the "Slaughterhouse Five" in honor of Indiana's own Kurt Vonnegut. There's enough meat on that pizza for an army!

For the down-to-earth, pub setting: MacNivens Scottish Restaurant and Pup
339 Massachusetts Ave.; 317-632-SCOT(7268)

Cool and casual MacNiven's welcomes you inside with worn in wood floors, tables, walls and that "old time" feeling. There's an outstanding beer selection (in fact, some say too many to choose from!) and the service is relaxed but the servers are always on top of everything. Relish in delicious Scottish food and sip on the perfect beer at one of their open windows in the front. And don't forget to check out the bathroom.

For a ritzy, romantic evening:Scholars Inn on Mass Ave.
725 Massachusetts Ave.; 46204 317-536-0707

The Scholars Inn is one of those places you go after putting on your best outfit. This snazzy cocktail lounge and gourmet restaurant serves up some top-of-the-line food and drinks. Treat yourself to a tasty meal and then head upstairs to the cocktail lounge to indulge in some after-dinner liquid treats!

For the International Enthusiast: Santorini's Greek Kitchen in Fountain Square
1417 Prospect Street 46203; 317-917-1117

Santorini's easily serves up some of the best (and authentic) Greek food I've ever had. The waiters are extremely helpful and know the menu through and through. Order up a few appetizers (the baba ganoush is heavenly, as is the hummus) to snack on while you watch belly dancers make their way around the room. Before you know it, dinner will be served!

For great music and food: The Jazz Kitchen in Broadripple
5377 N College Avenue; 46220; 317-253-4900

Honey, you haven't met a nicer pair of music and food yet, if you haven't been to Indianapolis' famous Jazz Kitchen! Located on the northwest side of Indy on College Avenue is this great place to bring a date, a family member or a group of friends. Try the walnut crusted salmon and order an authentic Brazilian Caipairinha (made with real Cachaca) and enjoy your company!

Other great restaurants in Indianapolis (that you won't find anywhere else)

Cheap Eats:Yats Cajun Creole
American Grill:Harry and Izzy's
Tasty Pizza: Bazbeaux's
Pub and Deli: Elbow Room

Enjoy your time in Indianapolis and may your belly be thankul you stopped by!
