The Thai House is a tiny, ornately decorated restaurant tucked into a building that almost resembles a trailer. But despite its size, The Thai House has some of the most delicious food in Nyack. The best part for vegetarians is that The Thai House has a whole separate section of the menu for vegetarian items, so you don't have to worry about which dishes have meat in them. The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Thai fare. Most of the vegetarian dishes are also fairly healthy and packed with tofu and fresh vegetables. But don't worry, none of their dishes are lacking any flavor.

Reality Bites is something of a cross between a café and a casual movie theater. There are large screens inside the restaurant so you can watch movies while you eat your meal. The menu includes a variety of healthy items, including many tasty vegetarian dishes. They also have a menu of "bites" that you can get instead of or in addition to your full meal. These bites are similar to tapas and start at one dollar. If you are not very hungry, or can't decide on a dish, try sampling some of the vegetarian bites.

It is like Patisserie Didier Dumas fell into Nyack straight from the heart of Paris. And in fact the owner is a French man who makes delicious pastries the way only the French know how. The Patisserie is a great place to go for dessert or to get a custom made cake for a special occasion. Everything is delicious and sells for about half the price similar pastries in Manhattan. They also serve sweet and savory crepes that are large enough to count as a meal. Many of the savory crepes are vegetarian, and of course all the sweets are as well. Keep in mind that almost everything in Patisserie Didier Dumas is extremely decadent and dripping with sugar, chocolate, or béchamel sauce. It is a wonderful place to go for a treat, but I wouldn't recommend eating there every day.

Casa del Sol 104 Main Street 845-353-9100

Casa del Sol is the best Mexican restaurant in Nyack. The environment at dinnertime is usually very lively. The food is delicious and plentiful. The menu includes a variety of vegetarian dishes from a tapas of fried spinach and goat cheese drizzled in honey to classic vegetarian tacos. I recommend ordering the guacamole, which is delicious and is made right at your table. They also have very good margaritas for those who drink alcohol.
