Creatine is one of the most effective ways to lose fat, although it's much less direct and will have less-than-noticeable effects early on. This supplement is best used in conjunction with a weight training routine, where it will give your muscles additional energy and allow them to perform more effectively. By doing this, creatine will increase your lean body mass which will in turn increase your metabolism. The greater intensity with which you can work out will also increase how much fat you burn in each training session. Note that creatine will add several pounds of water to your frame very early on, as it allows your muscles to store additional water. This will make you gain additional weight that will be lost once you stop using it, so don't fret if you put on five or ten pounds within a week. You'll still be leaning out quickly!
Green tea is another popular and relatively healthy choice for people looking to lose fat. It has been shown to increase the body's metabolism and help burn calories and fat. One of the downsides of green tea is that you need to take a fair amount of it, about 5 cups a day, to see any real change in your metabolism. This can get expensive, but if you have the money, then it might be worth the time. Note that you should brew your own tea as most bottled tea uses a lot of sugar and/or fructose, which will greatly outweigh the fat-burning benefit.
Caffeine is probably the best safe fat burner there is. It works by constricting your blood vessels and increasing blood pressure, and raising your metabolism. Caffeine is also a mild appetite suppressant. It is recommended that you take caffeine in pill form, as most beverages have large amounts of sugar that will hinder weight loss. It is also important not to take too much caffeine at once as it is possible to overdose on it, which can lead to a heart attack or just a general feeling of malaise. When combined with exercise, this is a very effective way to lose weight.
While these supplements will help you lose weight, I absolutely recommend that you also take on a solid workout routine. I've heard some good things about p90x, especially for people that don't know much about weight training. Cross Fit is pretty good too. That said, any sort of dedicated exercise will show you results: the biggest benefit of those programs is that they lay it all out for you and help with motivation. If you are able to motivate yourself, then get in the gym and run / lift.
