The Lockview
Though known for its delicious grilled cheese and fantastic beer selection (and some would claim its Panko Crusted Chicken Sandwich), The Lockview also whips up a delicious soup on a daily basis. They never shirk variety, seeming to always find a new soup, or a fantastic spin on an old favorite. My favorites vary, loving any Italian wedding soup that pops up, or Tuscan bean. The Broccoli Cheese is, of course, also a favorite of mine. New soup posted I plan to try soon: African Peanut Soup. Always remember tomato soup is always on hand for grilled-cheese dipping action!
The Stewpot Kitchen
The Stewpot Kitchen is a relatively new restaurant, and therefore a relatively new restaurant for me. I have only had the pleasure of trying a couple different soups, but certainly plan to taste more in the future. The small restaurant always has over four soups available per day, and the menu constantly changes. I was fortunate enough to walk in on the day they had Blue Moon Beer Cheese Soup. In a bread bowl, I'm pretty sure it would have taken three of me to eat it all... but it was absolutely delicious. Best part? It's incredibly affordable-at $3.50 for a large bowl, and only $2.50 for a small. A few I'm planning to try soon: Creamy Tomato Zinfandel Soup, Apple Butternut Squash Soup, and Loaded Baked Potato Soup.
Mr. Zubs
This Highland Square favorite serves up dozens of delicious sandwiches that certainly make a statement. They are also perfectly complimented by the various soups conceived and cooked up daily. I am sad to say that I have only tried the cheddar broccoli (which is fantastic, by the way). However, I feel the itch to go down to Mr. Zubsright now because they have available Loaded Baked Potato and Bourbon Chicken Bacon Ranch soups-both of which sound positively delightful and delicious. Others that I will make it a point to try this fall: Cajun Stuffed Pepper soup and Spicy Tomato and Blue Cheese. So there you have it, folks. It's fall (well, almost). Get out there and eat some soup!
