This year was no different, especially when Delvin Hester, of the Bears, started the game off by returning the Colts Kick-Off with a 92-yard touchdown! Wow! That caught my attention right away! It was frakkin' amazing! Even so, it didn't win the game for the Bears. Instead, the Colts came back with a vengeance and won the day. So, before I give you the rundown on the best 2007 Super Bowl Commercials, let me take a moment to congratulate the Colts on their win.
Congratulations, Colts! You did it! You are the winners of Super Bowl XLI! Woohoo!
Alrighty, now it's time to get back to the best Super Bowl commercials of 2007. There were many, many ads to choose from, but there were only five companies that truly caught my attention with their commercials, held it and then impressed and/or entertained me.
Careerbuilder.com
Careerbuilder.com stole the spotlight all night long with it's trilogy of "Office Jungle" commercials. "Office Jungle", "Office Jungle Fight" and "Torture" were hilarious commercials based on the comparison of most companies and the jungle. Employees were crazed, hunted, haunted and stressed to the limit. They were looking for any way out, even if it meant jumping off a cliff! Suddenly, a light comes on and a door opens and there is Careerbuilder.com offering a way out of that old job and into a new one. I swear I heard the angels sing and the heavenly orchestra play at the end of each Careerbuilder.com Super Bowl commercial. I haven't laughed that hard in ages, so I give Careerbuilder.com the highly coveted "Best Super Bowl Commercial of 2007" title.

Office Jungle Fight
Torture
Budweiser
My next favorite 2007 Super Bowl commercial was the amusing and highly entertaining Budweiser: "Beer-Stealing Crabs" commercial. The ad was short and sweet, yet plenty full of laughs. Crabs scuttle around the beach, spy a large bucket full of Budweiser beer and steal it. As the beer-loving crabs get the bucket of Bud in place, it falls into shadow, two bottles sway apart and suddenly we are looking at something that looks very much like a giant crab. Almost as awed as the crabs, I laughed while they did the bowing down and worshipping of the new Crab Beer God.
Beer-Stealing Crabs
Another Budweiser favorite was "Fake Dalmatian". This was a heart-warming take on a spot-challenged white dog and his depressing life. Throughout his journey from the butcher store, where he is yelled at and chased off, to a dark and dangerous alleyway, where he is threatened by other, darker dogs, he finally stumbles upon something wonderful!
A Budweiser parade!
The Budweiser wagon is pulled by a beautiful team of Clydesdales amidst great fanfare. Our canine looks longingly at the beautifully spotted Dalmatian who is riding in a place of honor on the front seat of the wagon and dreams of a better life. Suddenly, a vehicle drives by and through a nearby mud puddle, and splashes our canine with mud! Thinking the worst, our canine wanders off and just happens to encounter his reflection in a nearby store window. Great Spot! Our down-on-life canine now has a wonderful set of mud spots! Well, there's only one thing to do now, and our canine does just that. Moments later, we see our lucky canine riding in the seat atop the Budweiser wagon, enjoying the cheers of the crowds and the hugs of Budweiser Beauty Queens. Personally, I thought this commercial was absolutely adorable and that is why it made my Top 5.
Fake Dalmatian
Coca-Cola
I'm always impressed with Coca-Cola Super Bowl commercials. Every year, every Super Bowl, Coca-Cola comes out with special ads that are guaranteed to transport the viewer to a place of wonder. 2007 was no different. In the 2007 Super Bowl Commercial "Happiness Factory", Coca-Cola takes the viewer on a journey describing what happens after a hunky guy drops a coin into the Coca-Cola machine. We are quickly whisked away to a tropical paradise where all sorts of gadgets, whirligigs, whatchamacallits and thingamajigs create the *perfect* coke. I was suitably awed by this journey and came away from this commercial; you guessed it, craving a coke! Since I only drink Diet Coke, I had that instead. This Coca-Cola 2007 Super Bowl commercial is on par with the magical Disney movies our children so love.
The Happiness Factory
GM
My absolute favorite GM 2007 Super Bowl commercial was "Car Wash Dudes". I, like many most likely, assumed this was just another car commercial. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong! Holy cow! Ladies driving a Chevy HHR stop in traffic and are suddenly assailed by males of every type. That funky song, "Hot in Here" which is sung by Nelly, starts to play and men start stripping their clothes off. At first, I didn't know what was going on. I thought they were just a bunch of mundanes suddenly gone strip club. We quickly find out that the wild men mean to use their clothing to wash the Chevy HHR. The women inside the car begin screaming with either pain or excitement; it's hard to tell when you consider the older gentleman gyrating at one of the windows. Needless to say, this was definitely a Great Super Bowl Commercial Moment and I laughed myself silly long after the ad had finished. An interesting fact about this commercial is that it came from a Chevy College Ad competition and was, of course, the winner.
Car Wash Dudes
"Robot" was another GM touchdown. This 2007 Super Bowl GM commercial focused on an assembly machine's overwhelming stress as it tries to meet GM's high demand for perfection. After dropping a screw, our metal friend daydreams about being out of work because it cannot meet the high level of perfection demanded by GM. It moons over every GM that crosses its path, and then finally decides to "end it all". Thankfully, however, the GM assembly machine wakes up before succeeding its deadly deed.
Robot
Blockbuster
My final choice of companies with awesome 2007 Super Bowl commercials is Blockbuster. Their commercial, "Mouse", was absolutely hilarious! Picture this; a rabbit and a guinea pig are trying desperately to use a real mouse to get on the internet. After all, Blockbuster's ad says, "we're just a mouse click away from a better way to rent movies". The rabbit has the mouse pinned beneath a paw and is "clicking" the mouse slowly... at first. Growing more frustrated, it begins to slide and "click" the mouse faster and faster causing many, many mouse squeaks but never accomplishing his goal. It's the guinea pig that discovers their problem though, they forgot to plug the "mouse" in! Holy mouse! "Mouse" was one of the best 2007 Super Bowl commercials.
Mouse
Conclusion
Overall, the 2007 Super Bowl was packed full of many hilarious and some not so hilarious commercials. I found that there were many more fantastic commercials than there were cruddy commercials. Though I only list my favorite five companies, there were other companies worth a mention as well, such as Taco Bell's "Lions", IZOD, Nationwide's "K-Fed Rollin' VIP", Doritos, Toyota and Sprint's "Connectile Dysfunction".

Post a CommentI do not like football however, I do like the commercials.
I loved that Budweiser commercial! Great article!
This article was very enjoyable! Thanks for writing it. :)
Joanna, I loved the Coca Cola Grand Theft Auto commercial too! It was great! And... I feel your pain. *Hugs* Maybe next year will be the Bears year? Take care and thanks for visiting!
Great choices! and you're so right all of them were so funny. What did you think of the Grand Theft Auto "You give a little love" Coke commercial. That was really funny. I am also happy that Your COLT'S won. Peyton played a great game even though he beat my BEARS. WAAAA!! (It still stings) Bye. Great article.
I like the commercials more than the football. lol
I'm afraid I am a football snob. What is played in America should be called handball, or throwball, or pathisassball... real football is played with a round ball and the feet are actually key. heh.
I do wish I had caught these commercials though. Maybe I'll run the videos of them.
The commercials are the best part! LOL
