When you've got the craving for spicy Asian cuisine, nothing is better than great Thai food - spicy Larb Gai and basil chicken washed down with a Thai iced tea or Singha beer. Here are some of the best Thai restaurants in Baltimore, Maryland.

Best Thai Restaurant in Baltimore

Thai Landing

1207 North Charles Street
410.727.1234

Thai Landing is undoubtedly the best Thai restaurant in Baltimore City. The restaurant has received repeated recognition from Baltimore Magazine and Zagat, and has occasionally been proclaimed the best Thai restaurant in the United States. Maitre D' Charlie is a favorite among regular diners, and he'll get to know your name and your preferred level of spiciness. If you like it hot, this is the place to go - subtract a star from your usual preferred level of spiciness. The waiters are great at recommending dishes for the novice to Thai dining, as well as newer dishes or the best of the day for return visitors. Start with the delicately crispy spring rolls, and enjoy the pungent Gai Pad Kra-Prao or any one of the wonderful shrimp dishes. Don't miss the fabulous sticky rice with fresh mango at the end of the meal.

Best Thai Restaurant in Baltimore's Inner Harbor Area

Ban Thai

340 North Charles Street
410.727.7971

If you're in search of Thai dining within walking distance of the Inner Harbor, Ban Thai is a great restaurant choice. A pleasant change from all the chain restaurants in the Pratt and Light Street Pavilions, Ban Thai has a cozy hushed dining room in shades of pink and red offset with wood paneling and trim. There's a nice selection of vegetarian dishes and a dark, smoky Pad Thai with a slightly unusual sauce. The presentations here are lovely, a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. If you're doing your all too frequent Baltimore jury duty or taking guests to the Aquarium, it's worth a visit to Ban Thai.

Baltimore's Sentimental Favorite Thai Restaurant

Thairish

806 North Charles Street
Baltimore, MD 21201

(410) 752-5857

Two decades ago, Thai food was cool and exotic. Hopkins, Peabody and MICA students on slim budgets went out for Thai to impress their dates with their exotic taste and ability to eat really spicy food. This was the go-to restaurant. Yes, there's a slightly limited menu and a total lack of ambiance. One staff member has been compared to a certain Seinfeld character. The food is dumped rather than plated. But Thairish is a Baltimore institution. As the first exposure to Thai for many locals, this is the restaurant their palates remember. Take a walk around Mount Vernon, visit the original Washington Monument, and enjoy your dinner trip back in time.
