Now more than ever, people are looking for a good deal anytime they can. Not for profit organizations have opened some of the larger thrift stores in the area over the last decade in hopes to raise money for their groups. Citrus County is home to a few mega thrift store that have proven to be great places for thrifty shoppers.

Sheriffs Youth Ranches Thrift Store

This supersized thrift store is located in an outdated strip mall along highway 19 in Crystal River. This is one of four locations for the organization and is open Monday through Saturday from 830am through 600pm. This larger location has almost half of the showroom setup for furniture displays. You can find entire bedroom sets, living room sets, dinettes, televisions, and more. The store assistant manager announces random discounts and specials throughout the day. Items are tagged with the date they hit the floor, if an item is more than a month old, make an offer to the manager and get a better deal!

Key Training Center Thrift Store

The Key Training thrift store that I use most often is located on highway 44 in Lecanto, next to the Key Garden Center. This is one of three locations in Citrus County for this organizations store and they are all open every day! This store is special because it is staffed by members of the Key Training Center. It is great to stop in and see the place as these people give their hearts to make this place look so nice. This location is the smallest of the three stores but still has a decent variety of products from furniture to clothes and electronics. About one third of this building is setup with various toys for children of all ages. Specials for this store are posted on the front porch as you walk in and vary daily.

HPH Hospice Thrift Store

There is a new location of the HPH Hospice thrift store that just recently opened in Beverly Hills. The developer of the old piggly wiggly shopping center finally converted the old market store into a 3 slot strip mall. HPH Hospice Thrift is in the larger of those spaces and is open Monday through Friday from 9am through 5pm. This store has a magnet game that is offered on Mondays. In this game when you check out you choose from magnets on the table and under the one you pick you will get 10, 20 or 30% of your purchase total. Prices here are typically a little higher than other area thrift stores but occasionally have higher end items.

If you are looking to go thrifty shopping in Citrus County, be sure to check these places out!
