The Best Tourist Places of Udaipur in State of Rajasthan in India

There are many historical cities full of lakes, gardens, and palaces in India, particularly in the State of Rajasthan.. Udaipur is one such city that offers lots of places of tourist attraction. Udaipur city has a long and ancient history of Rana Pratap, Mogul king Akbar, and the sacrifice of many brave rajputs during the war with moguls. I have covered general information on city of Udaipur in my previous article. I shall now cover the places of the tourist attractions in this article at and near-by Udaipur.

Let us start our sites seeing tour with the most important city palace. This palace is located on the Lake of Pichaula. You have to enter in the city palace through Tripoli gate. This palace has beautiful Jharukhas with most attractive engraving. The pillars of the palace are also decorated beautifully. This was the official residence of the king of Mewad in 16th century. There are many sections to be seen in this palace, however, Suraj Gokh, Bada Mahal, Bhim Vilas, Shishmahal, Chinese painting school, Peacock corner, and Darbar Chauk are some of the most important spots. You must hire the government approved guide while visiting this palace. You will not be able to enjoy the palace without the knowledgeable guide. The guide service is available at the rate of Rs.300 ($7.5) per guide for the full tour of palace that takes around 2 hours in all. You need to buy an entry ticket also for visiting this palace at a nominal rate of Rs.20 (50 cents) per person. The Shishmahal and the peacock corner are the highlights of this palace. Many Hindi movies have been shoot at this shishmahal. The palace opens for visitors at 10 am and closes at 5 pm in the evening. You must carry your camera while visiting this palace as there are lots of locations that you will like to photograph. The city palace has a museum inside that has the many specimen connected with the history of Mewad. The next place is the Jagdish temple that is located near the city palace only. This temple has the most beautiful marble statue of lord Jagannath along with other beautiful statues of eagles and the elephants.

Saheliyon Ki Badi is the next place to be visited. This exquisite garden is located on the North of Udaipur city. There are four lakes in this garden. The statues of elephants in white marble adds to the beauty of this garden. The various types of water fountains with colorful lights look fabulous and you feel as if you have come to the heaven. This garden was made in the 18th century by the Rajput rulers. Many Hindi films have also been shoot at this garden. The early evening time is the best time to visit this garden as the water fountains with the lightings are started at 6 pm. The Indian arts museum is the next spot to be seen. This museum has many specimen of the Rajput time. The puppet shows are arranged regularly here everyday in the evening. The other spots like Sajjangadh Palace, Gulab Baug, Jag temple, and Gangadhar kund are also worth seeing historical places at Udaipur.

There are near-by excursions also available like Eklingji temple, which is around 14 miles away from Udaipur. Haldi Ghati battlefield is the next place at around 17 miles from Udaipur. This was the place where the historical war between Rana Pratap and the Mogul king Akbar took place in the year 1576. Kankroli is having the famous temple of Dwarkadhis Bhagvan and the most beautiful natural lake of sweet water, which is around 22 miles away from Udaipur. Jaisamand Lake, located at around 40 miles from Udaipur is the biggest lake of entire Asia. King Jaisinh made this lake in the year 1685. There are government offices on the bank of this lake at present. However, the marble umbrellas of all the kings of Mewad are here on the lake that is worth visiting.

Udaipur is full of such places of tourist's attractions, which are historical as well as beautiful. I am confident that all the visitors visiting Udaipur once would love its beauty and would wish to come here again and again in their life.

Udaipur is called the city of lakes and gardens of India. It has also a great history of bravery of the Rajput kings like Maharana Pratap and others. It is one of the most visited cities in India by the tourists.
