The Best TV Movies that Aren't Available on DVD

There are many great tv movies. And since there are so many of them, many fall into oblivion after they are aired. This is my list of the best tv movies that should be put out on dvd.

Cabin by the Lake (2000) is one of the most thrilling and unique movies I've ever seen. It's about a screenwriter (played by Judd Nelson) who kills women and then places them in his underwater garden. It is available on DVD but only in a bundled pack with the sequel. I've heard that the sequel isn't very good though. If you want this movie by itself, it's only available by itself on VHS. Cabin by the Lake needs to be released on its own on DVD.

Switched at Birth (1991) is about two female babies that are switched at birth. When one of the girls becomes ill with a heart condition a few years later, suspicion is raised when her blood type doesn't match the parents' blood type. After she dies, the parents locate their real daughter. It came out on VHS, but it is no longer available except for used copies.

Deception: A Mother's Secret (1991) is about a man (played by Steven Weber) who is dating a single mother. When she dies in a car accident, he tries to adopt her son. But then he discovers that the birth certificate is fake. Digging further into the mystery, he discovers that the child had been kidnapped when he was a baby.

The Face on the Milk Carton (1995) is about a girl (played by Kellie Martin) who walked off with a stranger when she was about two years old. Then when she's about sixteen, she sees a picture of herself on a milk carton. The whole story about how she was kidnapped by the daughter of the people who raised her comes out and she must go live with her real family. The Face on the Milk Carton came out on VHS, but it is no longer available except for used copies.

Someone Else's Child (1994) is about two baby boys switched at birth. One interesting part is that one child is half black but no one thought it odd that he had two white parents (they believed his skin color was from his grandfather being partly Native American). When the parents split, the father says that he doesn't believe he is the father of the child. A DNA test shows that neither the mother (played by Lisa Hartman Black) nor the father is the boy's parent. Then the search begins for her real son.

I Know My First Name is Steven (1989) is about a boy who was kidnapped at seven years old and abused by the man who kept him. When his abuser kidnaps another child about ten years later, Steven helps him to escape and returns home himself. It came out on VHS, but it is no longer available except for used copies.

In the Best Interest of the Children (1992) is about some kids who are taken from their parents and placed in foster care. After the foster parents break up, the foster mother (played by Sallie Struthers) wants to keep them, but she doesn't qualify to be a foster parent anymore since she's single. In the Best Interest of the Children came out on VHS, but it is no longer available except for used copies.

In a Child's Name (1991) is about a custody battle over a child between the mother's sister (played by Valerie Bertinelli) and the father's parents. The custody issue arose because the baby's father murdered the baby's mother and went to jail for it. It came out on VHS, but it is no longer available except for used copies.
Empty Cradle (1993) is about a mother (played by Lori Loughlin) who is told that her baby died after it was born, but really, her baby was stolen by a nurse (played by Kate Jackson).

For the Love of a Child (2006) is ultimately about two women (played by Teri Polo and Peri Gilpin) who help abused children. But mostly, the movie centers around one abused child named Jacob (played by Matthew Knight). This is a very hard movie to watch because it's rather realistic. The children in this movie did a fantastic job.

I got another great one I impatiently await for on DVD - "Elvis" directed by John Carpenter and starring Kurt Russell as the king himself. Will this ever be available?
